i am trying to understand what factors might lead to having a cibil as near to 900 as possible.

i have not heard of anyone with such high scores (in my experience i have seen only people with a
around 810 max).

its not as if at entry level (no credit card, no loan) it is 900 and starts decreasing gradually. nor is it that it increases gradually till you retire. me, despite having many credit cards and extremely low utilization and timely payments, i am having the same score as someone with minimum credit cards, a few paid off loans which were always paid on time.

if anyone in this community has the score above 850, please share your insights on how you managed it, or how you planned it.

I Used to have 895 Experian... I was thinking what?? then later I realized experian scores will be like that only...
I also got that 895 score when I used to have only two CCs that were rarely used. now it is 831.. 🤣 🤣

I am searching for this question's answer for many days, but didn't get any answer till now.

Do secured credit cards count as a secured credit line, adding a mix to unsecured credit cards?

Technically speaking, they are secured loans.. Here what AU bank has to say regarding this:

But in reality, how they are reported by each bank and how each credit bureau is treating them is anyone's guess.
I will give an expample, I have taken a loan against FD( ICICI).., CIBIL treated as Secured loan where as Experian and all others treated as unsecured, even though there is a value in their collateral column in their reports.

Same loan against FD in HDFC reported as a unsecured loan in CIBIL as well as all other bureaus...

Now tell me where is the consistency and whom should I ask..
That is the state of Indian banks and Indian Credit bureaus... No one has accountability and standards and governance non existent...

No on follows rules and noone cares..
GOD bless all of us..

At the end, have you got the answer?? If no, who is responsible ....??

Not true. I have had a mix of jumbo loan/ personal loan/ home loan - all paid on time - my CIBiL score always hovered around 800 - currently at 807.

Credit history - 16 years
Not a single late late payment till date.
Had 2 credit cards till Feb ( had closed 1 before in 2015). Have got 4 nee credit cards and 4 CIBIL enquiries since Feb, score is still the same.

I have annual subscription to CIBIL so check every 2 or 3 days. The score has not decreased even after the hard enquiries. Need to see how CIBIL reacts in a month or 2 when it sees 4 new credit cards !!
Mine was 795 last month with only starting first Indian CC during Pandemic.

If there's not much diff between 795 & 807 per se, then is anything above it actually realistic or possible at all? Or is that just "a scale" for the sake of having one.

Anything between 780 and 800 is more than good enough for all practical purposes..
Between 800 and 810 is just an excellent one to have..Anything above is just bonus..
All these are on long term basis..
Early into the credit history, it is normal to have just above 800..Once you startbusing start using different credit products, it will stabilize ..

Thanks, that makes me feel good about my 805-ish score 🙂
