The most important category which is excluded in Flipkart and included in ACE is Utilities category. Most of the sites are classified as Utility (ex- Airtel, Jio, simpl, cred etc) for which Flipkart card does not give anything.
I think they finally decided to restrict cashback to single household bill payments only.
For those people not having other cards for Swiggy and Zomato, it's a drawback now.
I just calculated my spends on this card and looks like it hardly affects someone like me who only pays my own bills and doesn't use it for anything else.
I have a suggestion. Axis Gift Edge/Grab Deals portal gives 7% discount on Swiggy and 6% on Zomato gift cards. One can use that for Swiggy and Zomato transactions. And Keep Axis Ace only for Bill Payments and Recharges and for Offline grocery or departmental and restaurant spends which still gives 2% unlimited Cashback. This way one will be able to earn a little higher cashback on other spends and not breach the Rs 500 cashback on bill payments. I hope this helps.
Ace use case is very limited for me now. Might now renew it by year end. Bill payment mostly through Amazon pay.
Magnus, DCB, Gold charge (1k x 6), MRCC (1.5k x 4) primary drivers.
So its customer acquisition strategy to give card to customers and when they have enough customers and viability an issue then they devalue the product or its features…we can do nothing, only customers are affected
One can always cancel the card ..
I applied for this card on day 1 of launch and recently closed (after last devaluation it didn't fit well into my pocket ).
Airtel axis would be better in that case. Zomato and Swiggy 10% instead of 5% and 10% utility bills on Airtel thanks. Both having separate 500 and 300 cappings respectively.
Edit: I hope it's not next 🙂.
