Hello Everyone

In 2020 I opened Axis Bank Salary account as the company I am working credits salary to Axis Bank only, recently they changed this to HDFC Bank so I converted my Axis Salary account to Basic Savings account.

When I first opened my account I got RuPay Platinum card, no benefits and I don't have any complains as well since the charges are the least. 200 + 18% GST.

This year my card was up for renewal, I got prior notification from Axis asking me to update my address if I'm no longer residing at that address.

Since I was still residing at the same address I did not do that.

Later I got Secure Plus Debit Card instead of RuPay Platinum card and they deducted 300 + 18% GST as card charges.

I did not activate the card and did not do any transactions on it as I did not want that card and I wanted RuPay Platinum only , so I reached out to customer care, later bank, nodal officer, principal nodal officer all claim that bank has the right to replace the card with any card.

I argued that I did not activate the card how can you deduct the charges they claim it is not wrong and I can escalate to RBI Ombudsman if I want.

So, before escalating to RBI I wanted to get community suggestion on this matter.

Is it worth fighting ? I mean they replaced the card from one card to other without asking for my consent or informing me about the same. As I did not even activate the card or set pin how can they deduct charges ?

Honestly I no longer use Axis Bank any more, I have personal loan and 3 credit cards (ACE -- oldest, MyZone & Privilege (LTF)) I will be closing personal loan soon.

So, I ask once again will get any positive judgement from RBI Ombudsman my previous experience with Ombudsman isn't great.

Hence asking community opinion.

You already answered that, what to do.
Still in case you have energy patience and zeal, you can go ahead with RBI.

I have a better solution for this,

same happened to me, got secure plus card for 300+gst. Later I blocked the Card and Applied for AXIS ATM Card via Netbanking which was 0 Annual Fee, but you can use it only at ATM for cash withdrawal and not Online. This ATM Card is based on Rupay Platform. Later, filled RBI BO Complaint and got Charges reversed.

Hope this will help.

Thank you for your answer, I have one question can you please elaborate on the ATM card and RBI BO Complaint. Like the details on what kind of complaint you filed and what was the resolution and proofs.

Sorry for the trouble, but this would help me in building my case against Axis.

Debit card is different from credit card you activate your card or not charges will be deducted as per pricing of the card .
Just get any basic debit card of axis or if possible and you don't need debit card just hotlist it .

Complaining will not work

Sure, but they replaced my debit card with other without my consent. Is that also correct ?
