Hello Everyone
In 2020 I opened Axis Bank Salary account as the company I am working credits salary to Axis Bank only, recently they changed this to HDFC Bank so I converted my Axis Salary account to Basic Savings account.
When I first opened my account I got RuPay Platinum card, no benefits and I don't have any complains as well since the charges are the least. 200 + 18% GST.
This year my card was up for renewal, I got prior notification from Axis asking me to update my address if I'm no longer residing at that address.
Since I was still residing at the same address I did not do that.
Later I got Secure Plus Debit Card instead of RuPay Platinum card and they deducted 300 + 18% GST as card charges.
I did not activate the card and did not do any transactions on it as I did not want that card and I wanted RuPay Platinum only , so I reached out to customer care, later bank, nodal officer, principal nodal officer all claim that bank has the right to replace the card with any card.
I argued that I did not activate the card how can you deduct the charges they claim it is not wrong and I can escalate to RBI Ombudsman if I want.
So, before escalating to RBI I wanted to get community suggestion on this matter.
Is it worth fighting ? I mean they replaced the card from one card to other without asking for my consent or informing me about the same. As I did not even activate the card or set pin how can they deduct charges ?
Honestly I no longer use Axis Bank any more, I have personal loan and 3 credit cards (ACE -- oldest, MyZone & Privilege (LTF)) I will be closing personal loan soon.
So, I ask once again will get any positive judgement from RBI Ombudsman my previous experience with Ombudsman isn't great.
Hence asking community opinion.
