Axis magnus addon card application/activation

Hello everyone. I've faced multiple challenges related to addon card Application/activation for my axis magnus. And i couldn't really find a post to explain all the steps in one place. So thought I should contribute. First post here 🙂

1. Getting an axis magnus card-
a.visit branch, fill the attached form. Affix photo with your sign over it. Separate forms required for individual members. Fyi - They don't check for proof of relationship (so you can get for your girlfriend/inlaws as well). Just a copy of aadhar and PAN will suffice as proof. Get a photocopy and sign on it from add on card applicant. Submit the form to any axis branch near you. Make sure to get the axis bank employee phone number to assist with any followup.
b. It took me about 3+ weeks from submitting the form to get a email and sms from axis saying my request is being processed
c. And within 5-6 days i received the add on card the PRIMARY CARD HOLDER ADDRESS address via blue dart- the whole box and all. Quite grand. Note - there was no separate priority pass in it.

2. Activation of add on card
a. you will receive a letter inside the axis magnus box which has details of card, current limit and an add on activation code. Keep this letter safe
b. Call the number 022 6798 7700 (from PRIMARY card holder mobile number) and wait to speak to customer executive (fairly easy to connect). He will guide you to an ivrs. (No need of visiting any atm/bank)
c. The first step in ivrs is OTP generation. Here is where it gets a bit tricky and even axis bank officials are not always clear about this. You will need go enter add on card number , addon card expiry , add on card holder date of birth and registered mobile number of PRIMARY CARD HOLDER. You will receive an OTP to the primary card holder mobile number by sms
d. You will need to enter the 6 digit OTP in the ivrs for activating your card.Once you enter the otp, ivrs will ask you to set and confirm you new credit card pin. Once this is done your add on card will be activated for domestic pos and atm transactions. Limits will be same as that of primary card. The card will still be disabled for online transactions, contactless transactions and international transactions.
e. To enable online transactions, contactless transactions and international transactions continue to select the appropriate option in ivrs/speak to phone banker who will guide you on the ivrs. And then they will ask for card details/expiry/pin along with the ADDON CARD ACTIVATION CODE PRINTED IN WELCOME LETTER ALONG WITH THE ADDON CARD and then ask to enable above mentioned transactions individually. And now you're fully set to add another person to help you meet your milestone spend. This is the only way for enabling online/contactless/international transactions for add on card.

Hope this helps someone 🙂

For me, I had to enter the add on card member’s mobile number in the IVRS to generate PIN. Realised that after multiple failed attempts.

This was a recent change. When I activated a few months back, it was the primary cardholder's number. However, when I activated a few days back, it was the add-on cardholder's number.
After setting PIN when I tried to enable online transactions, I could not as IVR kept saying invalid card details. Any idea why that would be?

Would I have to do this by calling IVR from add on card member’s phone number?

Thank you bro for sharing this! Good work!! But damn this process is so complicated. Is this a credit card application process or nuclear weapon launch?

I received the add-on card for my Magnus card today and activated it. Unlike what everyone says I found the process to be quite simple.

Applying for the card
  • I went to an Axis Bank branch. It was a small roadside branch with only some 5-6 staff. The branch has no credit card staff.
  • I asked to apply for an add-on card and was met with blank looks. They made some phone calls and all someone sent them the application form which they printed out for me. I was instructed to these documents for the add-on card:
    • A photo of the add-on applicant pasted and signed half-across
    • Copies of Aadhar and PAN card of the add-on applicant with their signature on them.
    • You can download the add-on application form here to avoid a trip to the branch and save them the trouble.
  • I submitted the filled form at the branch after two days. They said it will take quite some time. Two weeks silently passed.
  • Out of the blue I get an SMS saying my request has been registered with a SR number. Surprised, I call Axis Bank and ask what the request was. They said add-on card application.
  • Three days later the add-on card appeared in my app.
  • After two more days the add-on card was delivered to my communication address. It came in the same grey cardboard box. No Priority Pass.
Activating the card
  • Open the Axis Bank app on the primary card holder number.
  • Navigate to Cards > Swipe down on your Magnus card picture to view the add-on card and click to open it.
  • On add-on card screen click the "Control center" icon on the bottom right.
  • Click on domestic transactions. You will get a screen with some writing on it and an "ENTER ACTIVATION CODE" link in red. Click it.
  • You will get a popup asking to enter the Activation Code. The activation code can be found on the leaflet with the card details (limit, Joining fee (0), etc.) in your welcome box. You might be asked to enter the mPIN, enter the mPIN of the primary cardholder.
  • Set your transaction limits for domestic and international transactions.
  • Congratulations, your card is activated!
  • Next, set your PIN the same way you only need to validate using the mPIN of primary card holder. Now you are all set to use your add-on card.
Note: OTPs come to the add-on card registered number. This is the phone number you enter in the add-on application form.

The process has now changed completely with the introduction of addon card management on the app itself. Previously, activation and usage management could only be done through the IVR, which was an annoying process.

True
They have even relaxed the norms of applying for addon
Nowadays no approval is required

I'm trying to apply add-on card for my wife, i thought only my wifes proofs are fine but they are asking for my proof as well and asking my wifes salary statement(we both dont have an account with axis). Is this necessary or they are uninformed?
