Following a social media thread, i called up Axis Magnus CC today morning and told them about my intention to cancel the card as its getting devalued and other cards offering much better value. Also mentioned my previous spends so far. CC offered me 10K retention bonus points. Took me 10 mins and now this will sponsor a cool one night stay at courtyard Marriott Mahabaleshwar!

Called the normal customer care number. Renewal in Sep first week and probably total spend >15l

How old is your card? Tried this a few days back. They didn't offer anything as such.

I tried today and asked them for retention bonus. They kept me on hold for some time and said that I am eligible for retention bonus and the points would get credited in 24 hours and also informed me that the policy is provided once a year.

transfer the points to accor, then cancel the card.

this is what axis did to lot of new card applicants who recently got the card.
