So if I transfer 25k$ just for this and then transfer it back, is there any tax implications such as TCS or is it ONLY Swift fee the net cost incurred? If so, whats the estimate Swift fee for 25k$? Do we have to pay fee for both inward and outward remittance?

taxes yeah, forgot about that.

Ask a CA who sort of has international experience.

from my understanding, YES.

so can do just before filling the taxes next yr so refund gets to you faster, and you don't have liquidity crunch if that's a concern.

I am just wondering whether banks (nowadays) will share the outward remittance details of 25K USD with RBI/ITD. If so, what would be the impact of that move or information.

Remember, we are getting ITD notices if we spend over 10L INR per CC in a FY. All along money is WITHIN INDIA.

Whereas, here, we are talking about moving 25K USD FUNDS OUT OF INDIA amounting to Approx 21L INR.

Take professional help or guidance before attempting this in the process of saving only a few dollar bank charges.

Be cautious n safe than being sorry later.

I personally prefer taking a pre-loaded Multi Currency Forex Travel card - issued by almost all banks n others entities too. Many also offer other benefits like free SIM for use abroad.

This also helps if we travel to more than one foriegn currency countries.

I/we often travel to Europe (Euro), UK (GBP) and USA (USD) - usually in one trip. Then our preloaded MCFT card is very useful n works trouble free at all times - in shops, online, offline and on ATMs. You can always get back the unspent balances on returning home.

i don't think they'd allow 25k USD.

but can check www.bookmyforex.com ig.

Why would you need that much ?

You must have already bought all of your flight tickets, all of your hotel bookings and other major expenses (entry tickets, rail/train tickets, event entrance tickets.....) and all paid up.

Each adult can have a prepaid card, if your need is really that demanding.

Only trouble with multi currency forex card i see is that they will charge markup if you are transacting in a currency other than the loaded currency. Or i am not sure if any such free markup forex cards exist. So for multi country trips you have to be cautious of loading currencies with specific amounts you need and the hassle of unloading if there are balances left post trip. Rather than doing this, free forex markup debit cards will be better.

That solely depends upon the way you travel, you plan and you spend.

We never had any issue with MCFT cards. Moreover, except once, we never took cash from an ATM. We always had friends in each country to take care of so many issues - which we used to put them in place.
