I am looking for a secondary bank account. My primary account is in ICICI. I am considering this account for everyday expenses. Kindly recommend. HDFC Preferred. If any other bank kindly suggest that as well

Yes....your account would be zero balance untill u retain that FD

as mentioned above, upgrade to HDFC SavingsMax by maintaining a 3L FD, then they will wave off your debit card charges & also no need to maintain MAB.

Here is what I would do.
1) Visit branch and Upgrade the SB account to SavingsMax account with 25k MAB.
2) Request for Millennia debit card from Netbanking, and close the Platinum DC (Platinum gets too much hype).
