Best way to redeeem Magnus Edge reward points

curious

TF Buzz
Hi Guys, I've applied for Magnus and got it in Jan 1st week, 23. Till now, I've accumulated decent number of ER points. As someone who is never into airmiles and hotel loyalty points, which redemption options (5:4) are best in terms of value and simplicity for a beginner?

Without doubt opt for Club ITC due to the 1 green point = 1 Rs conversion and the ability to pay for all spends including room , food through points

Well, there are numerous transfer partners available for both hotels and airlines. You could go for options that suit you the most. My personal favourite is Marriott. It gives you an option to book from their 6500 plus hotels worldwide across all Marriott associated brands.
Also, when we book for 5 nights through points Marriott charges for only 4 nights, so that’s another added benefit.
Value of points while booking Marriott varies a lot but be sure that you ll be able to extract at least 65paise per point and sometimes even Rs. 1.8-2.4 per point depending on the supply and demand at the property.
P.S. to further enhance the value of the points you can first transfer 75k points at 5:4 to ITC. Then transfer these ITC 60k points to Marriott at 2:3. You ll get 90k points in Marriott. So, in a nutshell for 75k edge reward points you ll get 90k Marriott bonvoy.

It’s important to note the following:
1) while edge rewards to Marriott is an instant transfer; edge rewards to ITC is time consuming (10+days from axis to ITC and 5+days from ITC to Marriott.
2) you can only transfer 60k points from itc to Marriott in an year.
3) please keep in mind that Marriott bookings through points are room and Wi-Fi only rates. No meals are included.

Hope this helps🙂

Thanks a lot for your inputs 🙂 What are the best options to redeem in airmiles and Is it tedious to do for a beginner?

It might seem daunting at first but you ll get used to it with time. The problem or the cons of transfer to an airmile partner is that generally every airline has their own air miles program. So you ll have to create a membership with them if you don’t have one already.

Having said that some good ones are krisflyer - Singapore airlines, Qatar, etihad and vistara. Vistara CV points can be transferred to krisflyer as well so do check that if you are looking to transfer to either one of those.

So, in short, as you can see from above having so many options for airmilies it becomes a bit complicated and time consuming to choose and book.

Thank you. 🙂 Are there any other options available apart from vistara for domestic airline redemptions

Thanks for the detailed info. I have 2 questions here:

1. In marriot bonvoy, I see that when trying to book a hotel it is considering room rent for 7.5 k INR or 21k points. So basically 1 point = 0.3 INR or is it counting for the full duration with points?

2. In club itc, can we book any room or only the lowest type of room? When I logged into itc, it shows only the lowest category room can be paid with green points.

1) Whenever you browse through the prices at the Marriott app/website it will show per night rate in currency and per stay rate in points. So, specific to your question it should be 21k points for the whole stay.
2) never used itc points booking but at Marriott it’s always the lowest category except very rarely you will see 2 or 3 different room categories available for booking via points. It should be the same for itc as most loyalty programs follow the same patterns but do check on itc if it’s the case or not.
