its true for all models...They just created artificial waiting time for models like Creta to create hype and FOMO. My neighbor bought Creta with waiting time of 2 months in Dec'24 and when i checked the year and month of manufacture, it was April, 2024....A model with waiting period of 2 months, mfg. date will not be beyond max 1 month

My driver bought Honda SP125 bike in Dec'24 and mfg. month was same Dec'24 because it is highest selling model

Fact of the matter is that there is economic slowdown and people are now spending money wisely in anticipation of recession or future impact on their income.

Quite a conspiracy theory here. I remember when I wanted to buy my Kia, there was a waiting of 3 months. Delivery happened on time. But this can be with one dealer or 2, or one district or one state but whole country? I enquired with 4 dealers, in Delhi and in Gurgaon. 2 dealers each.

Then I enquired with 2 dealers in my hometown (neither Delhi or Gurgaon), here the waiting time was of 4 months.

And about mfg. year of month/yr, there can be multiple reasons. When a product mfg. doesn't mean they are in transit to the dealer right away. It goes through quality checks. That takes time. This isn't just with few companies, you can enquire the same with any dealer regardless state or even different companies. 2 wheelers are easy to transit hence speed's a bit faster. Also there isn't much regulations on 2 wheelers, where as in 4 wheelers few mistakes and the company will go down here. There is transit time, quality checks and cars are always mfg. in advance. You can check with top company of 4 wheelers in India or bottom company.

A company which has the least sales still have the same issue. Also coz of reselling costs issue for buyers, car makers don't mfg. much units in the end of the year unless the car was launched in the end of the year which rarely happens and when reselling if someone bought the car in dec 2023, and selling in Jan 2025, the car is presumed to be 2 years old, not 13 months as the year of mfg. is 2023. Car makers know this.

"Economic slowdown" pffft. This "recession" is coming is being told to us since 2014, still hasn't happened unless you wanna include the pandemic. Meanwhile countries who are praised for their top economy such new Zealand, UK entered recession last year.

Yeah, anyway now I am pursuing from bordering state. Has less registration fee and no insane requirements for BH no plates.

why not go for EV? Last I checked there was no reg fee for select states.

My next would def be electric. People say the money you save in electric, 5 yrs of petrol in oil cars doesn't charge that much so it's better to go for fuel cars.

Tbh no, when one has a fuel car, they always think twice before going out and taking it for a spin or long drives thinking why we have to go from point a to point b if we have no work at point b. With electric, one atleast can freely drive with no worries about fuel cost.

Thanks for tip🙂

But EV as 1st car, quite a hefty decision @Vasuki

My first was fuel. Even I had the same opinion as you. I even had this thing that why to go for automatic when manual gear change cars feels more manly and changing gears is something I love so I won't waste it on automatics.

Tbh bad decision on my part. Automatic's are amazing. So are electric. And abt availability of charging stations, YMMV but there is charging at home for me, then there is charging just 50 meters away from my place, also the malls I visit most of them have charging. Ofc this will just increase more and more in upcoming years with even mainstream creata has gone electric now. It's just a matter of time now.

Everything depends on the one's usage. There is no point buying an EV if you don't have even 30KMs run every day.

EV has its own set of issues. Things will improve, but it will take time.

Till then, for normal usage, Petrol is definitely the best choice.

Under any given circumstance, car mfg date should not be more than 3 months

Indian GDP calculation methodology was changed therefore, no looks great and this calculation will be again change to manage no's else India is already under recession.

India's GDP no's are overstated by 2.5%....I am not saying this but former CEA Arvind Subramanian is saying this who was appointed after 2014

But who decides one has 30kms every day? Is it just work? Does people love to drive their car here and there just to browse around? Don't they hesitate to do so just coz "petrol waste hoga"? That was my main concern.

Our "former" nobody's nowadays say many things. Even Raghuram said many things, he has been wrong almost all the time. Nobody says we are in recession. Under Biden even Wikipedia's earlier definition of "Recession" was changed to suit Biden's numbers, but regardless the old definition or the new "made up" definition, India doesn't fall in either and did far far better than any country out there.

Even World Economic forum was wrong for 2024 yr for India's GDP growth and India did even better than WEF predictions.

Has anyone noticed when some quarter numbers come for GDP rise, opposition says the numbers are fudged but when India's 3rd Quarter GDP numbers were quite down, all shamed the Govt and nobody said even though the numbers are down, in actual the numbers are even more down coz the GDP data is "fudged". Quite convenient.

Says who?

Team BHP has been consistent on this officially that manufacturing date has been gone even far behind as 4-5 months. It's not a dealer breaker. Sure an exhaustive PDI is needed but as long as that is consistent, there is nothing to worry about. The only problem is with reselling that's it. Also you can deny a delivery of a car with 3-4 months old mfg. date, no dealer forces anyone abt this. But then more waiting time follows. Advance is usually fully refundable.

Also sometimes a some customer cancels delivery of the car, then the same car is sold to someone else (dealers usually let the customer know why they are getting early delivery coz of cancellation.

Yes, typical Indian Mindset at least.

The user will decide how much their usage is. If I decide to take it at work daily, then I know how many KMs I gonna run. If I take the car occasionally or on weekends only, then it may hardly reach 10K KMs in 1 year.

But, If we see financially, then EV/CNG doesn't make sense as we might be paying more in terms of the overall cost of the car. There will be at least 1.5-2 Lac difference. So, that indirect return is very much important, I guess. (Interest on top of that amount will also increase that amount. Simple FD Interest will also help eliminate that Electricity difference.)

Plus, a few more factors to consider like no resale value in case of EV, Electricity Cost (everyone may not have the solar!), Compulsory breaks during the long drives. (I can't stretch 500KMs without the charging break, I may also need to compromise with the food of the place where the charging station is located. Refueling will be much quicker than charging. No quick garage support, they may not be aware of any issues of the EV, you are bound with the company for any troubleshooting. Lithium-ion battery itself is like a bomb! (Also the CNG, but chances are high in Li-ion I guess.) We are already carrying one with us every time(Mobiles), why add some more risk 🤐

In short, not worth the hassle if you don't have that much usage. It will still take some time to build the proper infrastructure and awareness. It is good as a secondary/city car. But IMO for someone with occasional usage and the only car, fuel makes more sense. Just browse some videos about EV on YT, you will get a little idea about the issues users are facing. Even companies and their service centers are in the learning phase. I, as a member of the middle class, will not choose to be part of their research journey. (Especially when I am not getting much in return.)

Why 30KMs Daily?
Because you will not even break even the cost of EV in 8 years if you consider the cost of replacing the battery, that too just after using it for 50-60K KMs.

First - Validate MCC.
Second - Decide, whether you want cashback or travel based rewards.
Third - Then decide on card, also ways to prepay if you want to use same card multiple times. Scattered payment is easy and advisable too.

Agreed with this, my drive is even less. My current car has added only 7k in odo in 2024, which is pretty less.

I’d prefer cashback as I rarely travel international.
Also if I lets say, decide to go with magnus burgundy or something with lets say 3L limit, can I pay 3L today and prepay 3L after some time via bbps and again pay 3L?

It's going to increase your card utilization ratio and an impact as well on credit score. But the credit score would be back to normal in few stmt cycles. btw how much you are planning to spend on each card in terms of percentage? Between 50% to 70% limit spend should be good.

Yes, you can. But not recommended for such a large transaction and low limit.
2-3 times is OK. But here, you may need to do the same for 5 times.

Some cards also restrict RPs with Credit Limits. Make sure you aren't breaching the same.
