My Bank Account Got Closed Without Warning!
At 10:36 PM, I got an SMS from Canara Bank saying my account is closed—no prior notification, no explanation, nothing!
What’s crazy is I didn’t request for it to be closed. Plus, this account wasn’t sitting idle or dormant—I actually used it for transactions in October 2024, and I even deposited money into it just a few days ago.
Now my balance, which was in six digits, is gone. I can’t see it, I can’t transact, and I have no clue what’s happening.
Has anyone ever faced something like this? Any idea what I should do next? I’m completely stuck and super frustrated.
[ Update: I lodged a complaint on Canara Grievance Redressal Portal and it got forwarded to my branch immediately. I got a call at 10 AM from the branch and the BM asked me to come and requested me only 10 minutes. He was saying that I don't need to panic and he's taking care of the thing. I visited the branch and met BM where he showed me that my account is reopened and funds are reversed with interests. He was saying that the account got closed automatically after one year of account opening because they didn't put a tick on the KYC Due Diligence 'CDD' while opening the account and it is a first incident in their zone. However, My debit card is gone and now I have to apply for it again. Though he promised me to reverse any issuance charges if it gets deducted. I could register on Ai1 app and verified through Aadhar for registration. It was completely their fault in the end. ]
