Canara Bank SB Select account launched with lifetime free Rupay platinum debit card

Canara Bank SB Select account launched recently. Many people doesn't know about it. So, I thought let's share a overview of this account.

*It offers unlimited free NEFT/IMPS/RTGS.

*Main benefit is zero annual charges Rupay platinum debit card. Canara Rupay platinum debit card charges 590 per year.So it's a big benifit, specially for me.

*No charges for sms alerts.

*Unlimited free locker operations.

*No initial deposit required for new account opening.

Eligibility:
Minimum balance for Rural 10000,Semi Urban 15000, Urban 20000, Metro 25000.

My branch is in semi urban area, So my minimum balance is 20000. I considered this account because this Bank's branch is the nearest to my house.The branch staff are really helpful there and despite being a PSU it's not crowded at all.I prefer going to the offline branch to do some cash transactions. I had normal savings account since 2013. The minimum balance for that account was 2000. And was not offering any kind of benifits+it had all the charges. And debit card charges for classic variant was 218(totally useless card) and Rupay platinum Card was 590(Very high charges).
That's why I converted my normal savings account to Select account by giving a request while visiting branch.

The Rupay platinum Card is instantly generated if someone has any other variant. And it's totally free. Second debit card/alternate debit card can also be issued but it will be chargeable. My rupay platinum debit card is delivered by India post today, and it looks really beautiful.

So, If anyone has the similar situation like me, and if anyone wants psu bank account except SBI, they can certainly consider Canara SB select account .

Complaint to RBI.
Should I go to local branch and submit a written complaint? And keep that as a proof to submit to RBI?
Because, I can't find any email of customer care of Canara Bank. If anyone has it, please share it here, so that I can keep a proof of email for this complaint.

And I am pretty damn sure, canara bank will not reverse the fee and admit their mistake anyhow. They give generic response/no response/most of the time does not try to understand what's the actual problem. Only complaint to RBI is the last way.
Finally, I want to say canara has a worst customer service, even worse than Indusind Bank .
 
Crap! That means their system is broken. Even for 1 primary debit card they're charging. Definitely complain to RBI even if they reverse the charges because you maintained 25K in the account for months and then they breach their own T&C and bring you this headache!
For your reference: I have attached my screenshots. Please check the Account Variant Shown in net banking, average monthly and quarterly balance.

Yeh to sach mein na Insaafi hain. Bank khud aapna T&C todd de aur customer ko bina wajah se pareshan kare.
Aam addmi ye sab jhamele mein na padkar jaane deta aur bank acchi tarah se customer ko loot leta.

I will suggest to first, reach out your branch manager.
Usually all your complaints are assigned to your branch.
And someone from the branch might have reversed the charges and it may take a few days to reach you. Branch manager has the rights to do this.
Things go slowly in Canara.

If they deny, please raise another complaint to with stronger words and you can also send email to branch manager and nodal officer.
 
Canara Bank added annual maintenance charges (590 Rupees) in my account, I upgraded my regular account to select account almost 10 months ago. I had a rupay platinum card with canara bank before, Thats why they didn't send me another rupay platinum card after the account upgrade.

I have always maintained more than 30k monthly average balance. According to canara bank website, If we maintain required MAB, the annual maintenance fees of debit card should not be levied. But canara bank is a lair, I think.

I lodged a complaint in their grievance redressal website ( Canara CPGRS) to reverse my inappropriate fees but they have closed the complaint without any proper response.

I know 590 Rupees is not a huge amount, But I feel cheated after the incident with canara bank , please guide me what to do next .

The charges are auto debited by the CBS. While it is unlikely that it will get charged when it is not supposed to be, there may be bugs in the SW.
  1. Your screenshot shows AQB whereas requirement is AMB. Are you absolutely sure that your AMB never fell below required AMB during the entire year? If yes, proceed with the below steps.
  2. If you have complained on Canara Bank portal you should have received mail for the same. Maybe you can go to the portal and check complaint details as well (not sure as I never took this channel). If you can find your complaint take a screenshot, it should suffice.
  3. If you can't find your complaint, mail to hocss1@canarabank.com and relax for 30 days.
  4. If they reverse the charges within 30 days well and good. If not, or even if they close your complaint before 30 days without reversing the charges then complaint to RBIO.

Yes, I can prove by showing my entire year statement that my Average monthly balance has never gone below the required MAB.

And, For the complaint on canara portal I have reference number and the screenshot of the complaint but the screenshot doesn't contain sufficient data and there's hardly any details which can act as a proof for RBI complaint.
And Canara's system is totally broken. After the complaint I could not track/view status of the complaint from their website. There's no data there. Probably they have removed the complaint data and now it's showing; no complaint exists.

That's why I will go either in Email way/written complaint to Offline branch manager.

Today, I have submitted a complaint in my branch with all the documents attached with that.
They, said that the fee will be reversed.
Let's see what happens, If they don't reverse the fee within 30 days, I will complain in RBI.
I have took a official receipt from the bank with the seal and signature of the complaint for future reference.
