Issue Resolved Canara Setu BBPS payments via Debit Card Dead? ( Debit Card Option Back )

The highlighted issue has been resolved by the bank/financial institution.
Paid two bills from HDFC ESP DC via canara setu, cannot see any cashback in the account till now, does this method still working for HDFC ESP for cashback or any other way up for the same
Apply HDFC Millennia Debit Card -

But I have outstanding amount. I have a bill of 1303
Oh, you're talking about that red error on top. It happens randomly on Canara. Try again after some time or change your IP and then try. My browser doesn’t store any data from the website, so it’s always a breeze for me. I've never faced any issues.

Setu is not at fault here, you cannot pay more than your outstanding in HDFC CCs. Blame HDFC.

Why blame even HDFC ? Isn't there some sort of RBI guideline that prevents a credit balance in a CC account?

I have seen ICICI transfer such credit balance in my CC account automatically to my bank account a few times.

I'm not sure about the RBI guidelines regarding this, but you're referring to a different issue. Actually, after BBPS (now Bharat Connect), only a few banks allow repayments. One example is SBI.

Let’s say you have an outstanding balance of 50K. You can pay 50K, then do a transaction of 80K, and pay 80K again, your outstanding balance will come to zero. This is possible with SBI, but not HDFC.

With HDFC, once your statement is generated, and if it shows an outstanding amount of 1303 and you pay it, the bill is considered paid.

Now, if you make a transaction of 30K using your HDFC card and thought to pay it off again to clear your outstanding balance, you won’t be able to.

Bharat connect system will say that the bill has already been paid and will tell you to wait until the next month. This is an issue with HDFC and a few other banks.

Only a few banks allow multiple repayments. This is what we are referring to.

You said one could not pay more than the outstanding balance for HDFC CCs. I just pointed out that that is in accordance with RBI guidelines.

It was not clear to me that you were talking about multiple repayments! Does it also mean that for HDFC you couldn't even make multiple repayments of smaller amounts adding up to (but not going beyond) the outstanding balance in a statement?

The SBI multiple repayments in your example also does not cross the outstanding balance at that point. I was surprised that BBPS allows payments of even unbilled amounts!

Yes, I thought that would've created confusion, that's why I explained a bit ^^

You can make multiple small payments. For example, if your bill is 50K, you can make 10K payments 5 times or 5K payments 10 times. It's completely up to you.

The SBI multiple repayments in your example also does not cross the outstanding balance at that point. I was surprised that BBPS allows payments of even unbilled amounts!

Yes, on paper it also doesn't exceed the outstanding amount. But as far as I remember with SBI, you can overpay by 5% of the limit, which will exceed the credit limit. SBI also has a credit transfer option similar to what you were talking about with ICICI.

And yes, SBI allows multiple payments if it's unbilled. I think Axis allows this as well.

In short, a few banks allow it, while a few don't.

I have SBI limit of 90k and sometimes I had to pay upto 2L. I'd just load up extra to make outstanding as -1.1L to pay the bill even in Oct last year.

Doesn't seem to be working. I have the same error since Sunday for a number. Not sure what puts the account in that state. Maybe some bug with the site.
Is that resolved for you? I too getting this error for last 2 days. Even got same error today on second mobile number. Any solution?
