CIBIL Now Sends OTP to Both Mobile & Email – A Game Changer! 🚀

1/ CIBIL has now introduced OTP authentication via both mobile and email for accessing your credit score and report. 📲📩

2/ Earlier, logging in required only a mobile OTP, which could be an issue if you didn't have your registered number with you.

3/ Now, with email OTP login, you can securely access your CIBIL report from any device, even if you don’t have your mobile with you! 🖥️💻

4/ This is a much-needed move for flexibility and security. No more worrying about SIM network issues when checking your score! ✅

5/ If you’re a regular CIBIL user, this makes things much more convenient. What are your thoughts on this update? Let me know! 👇

they should do the otp while allowing banks also to access. so all unauthorized non consensus credit pulls also stop!!

I've been getting them on both for years now. Hardly a game changer though... They should be using the much more secure and convenient TOTPs or maybe even passkeys.

This OTP nonsense is quite irritating since it doesn't remember device no matter what you choose.

It asks every time even if u r from same PC n same browser.
I’ve been using CIBIL for the last 2 years, and it doesn’t ask for OTP every time on my laptop. Sometimes it does, but if I skip entering OTP, the next day it logs in without asking again. It usually triggers OTP when connecting to a new WiFi or after system changes. From my experience of daily refreshes, I’ve never faced OTP requests every single day—only occasionally, like once a week or every two weeks.

There is a feature called 'Trust This Device' after entering the OTP. If you select 'Yes,' it won’t ask for an OTP every time. It will only ask occasionally, like when a new WiFi is detected or if the device changes. Also, if you leave it for a day without entering the OTP, the next day, it usually logs in without asking again (as long as you had previously selected 'Trust This Device').

Well, this is the oldest I have and I most certainly have been getting it for years now.

That's a whitelist btw. Filtering removes things.
How is that even possible? For me, OTP emails have only been coming since February. Before that, I never received them. Maybe my email wasn’t properly linked with CIBIL earlier. But strangely, I always received CIBIL alerts for new enquiries, changes, updates, and disputes—just not OTPs. It only started recently for me.

As for OTP prompts, I always select 'Trust this device,' and in my experience, it doesn’t ask for OTP every time once I’ve trusted my laptop. It only asks occasionally, like when there’s a network change or system update. But even then, if I leave it without entering OTP, the next day, it logs in without asking again. I’m 100% sure about this since I check my score regularly.

Okay, I understood now. The email ID I had registered earlier wasn’t linked to any loan or credit card, which is why I never received OTPs before. But recently, I took a personal loan where I provided my latest email ID, and it got updated in CIBIL records on 31-01-2025. Since then, I’ve been receiving OTPs via email as well because now my reported email ID matches the one used for CIBIL alerts. That’s likely the reason.
