Closing Axis Atlas Card with Negative Miles Balance

Hi everyone,

I have a negative Miles balance of -15K on my Axis Atlas card due to a planned travel ticket cancellation. My current tier is Platinum. I’m considering closing the card but am unsure if Axis will accept my request given the negative reward points balance.

Has anyone had experience with closing a card under similar circumstances? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I did not ask for retention offer as my negative balance was 15K Miles

My is positive 95 miles with around 12.2 lac spends . They have given me Joining Fees waiver !!

I had OG Magnus. Closed it in march-24. At the time of closing the ER points balance was -42K. I had IOCL LTF and My Zone LTF closed both and expected axis to close my account.
However when my Citi Rewards is migrated to Axis rewards the ER balance is still -42K.
I'll probably get it downgraded to a LTF card now as I have good limit of 14L on the card and it's one of the oldest cards.

I am planning to close my Atlas . Rn it has 95 miles positive but in upcoming week or so 17k miles will be in negative when reversal kicks in for already refunded amount .

Planning to close well before that !!

I want to close my Atlas card . Even after closure , can Axis put my miles balance in negative ?? I have received refund so around 12k EM and 5k EM for Platinum tier should have been reversed but things are pending from around 3 weeks due to ongoing Citi migration .

I am only closing this card to avoid miles going negative. If they can even debit miles after closure, then I would have no reson to close this card !

Also I have already exhausted 30k Group A Cap so anyhow not interested in burning miles for this calendar year !!

Finally closed this card with 95 EM balance and 12.2 lac spends . Now waiting to see if miles get reversed post closure of CC when Axis finally wakes from Citi transition hang !

Now you’re in a position to spend till make ur Edge Rewards or miles positive then only u can able to transfer new points

Honestly, not looking to accumulate any ER now. Just want to keep Axis card because of the credit limit and occasional 10% offers on e-commerce
