DCB application rejected

I recently applied for hdfc DCB through their alumni program but got rejected. I meet the salary criteria and have a cibil of 783. I currently have sbi cashback, indusind legend and icici coral credit cards with decent limits. My oldest card is Icici coral which I got in Nov last week 2022. I have also been a slice card user since May 2022 but so i guess that is the start of my credit history. What might be the reason behind rejection of my DCB application?

apply through good branch or agent.

reason behind rejection though HDFC only help you regarding this, some possibilities..

- How did you apply C2C or through income.
- C2C doesn't work since none of your cards over 6 months old.
- Income, address, Company details should match with the application.
- Internal policy doesn't satisfy your credit profile.
- In 2 months you have applied 3 cards, risk profile is high.
- Overall credit profile also under 1 year, unless through RM, possibilities are very less for super premium card approval.
- Your college may be not part of their alumni (latest!?) list.
- Salary criteria is net (hope it matches), maybe company name not matched.

Note: None of them applicable to you, drop a mail to customer support and ask for reason // if possible, correct it and apply again or ask for reconsideration.

We wish to inform you that your application has been considered in line with the Bank's internal credit policy (which is based on a combination of financial and related criteria and/or statistically determined scores to assess credit eligibility) and operating/credit processes ( which include a combination of verifications, credit bureau reports and document verifications). We regret to inform you that we are unable to approve your application as it does not meet the above mentioned internal criteria of the Bank.

would dropping their customer support a mail still help in this case?

No they didn’t send me the card at the time. I had also lost the manager’s number who was my poc in hdfc. The fiasco ended there and I just forgot about it. After a few months, i got a call from someone in hdfc trying to sell to me an ltf regalia/DCP. I told them my story and they luckily were able to get me in touch with the same manager. Through him I got to know that the reason of rejection was some address mismatch issue. Anyways since this was not a big deal, the manager was able to apply for the card again on my behalf and I received the card a couple of weeks later.

Moral of the story - it is always good to have an RM who can help you with your application.
