Do anyone use Spendr here?

I personally created the Spendr app for managing multiple credit cards, and it's available on the Play Store.

It's a simple ledger app. It cannot fetch anything automatically, you have to manually enter your transactions whenever you make one. I made it as easy as possible to add transactions so it doesn't feel time consuming.

This app has an option to securely store your credit card details and encrypt them using a PIN. This is an optional feature. If you already have a secure method to store your credit cards, or you don't need one, then I won't suggest using this feature. However, If you are storing your card details in Google Drive, Google Keep, Google Photos, WhatsApp, Phone Gallery, etc., then this app will be a significant upgrade in security.

This app was primarily built to fulfill my personal needs, which is why you won't find any fancy features like spending categories or monthly charts, because I don't need them.

• No internet access required.
• No login required.
• No permissions required.
• No ads no disturbance.

If anyone is using it, please share your experience.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know that I am no longer working on Spendr. The app hasn’t received updates since September 2023, and I’ve decided it’s time to hand it over to someone else who is interested in further developing and improving it.

As of December 30, 2024, Spendr is in the process of being transferred to R J INFOSOFT. I have released a final update from my side, which includes a notice informing all existing users about the ownership transfer.

Moving forward, all future updates to Spendr will come from R J INFOSOFT, not me. They may introduce significant changes, such as improving functionality, adding premium paid features, or even implementing ads.

If you enjoy Spendr as it is and don’t want...

I'm using it, and it's awesome.
Can I store my card details? Safely?
And I heard that you want to make it open source, has it been done yet?
Thank you for the app.

@yusuf646 Good job, OP/dev. Very appreciative! 👏

What I liked the most which you took care:

• No permission at all.

• Fingerprint authentication to open the app (it's instant, require everytime as soon we leave, great) and view card details with passkey (fingerprint)/ passcode code, if required.

Suggestions, you can ignore, I know you don't have enough time to make further updates and that's totally understandable because of many obvious reasons, though felt to share as you have asked to share experience:

• Statement Date and Due date are there, but what if alarm reminder (Sound & Vibration) can be added on Statement Date/ Due date or any other date, required by user.

Screenshot_20241228-215016.webp

• With txn description, category of txn / tag would make much better, can help user to analyse the usage pattern, where spending is more or less.

• Some expenses are recurring in nature, so anything that can be done to make duplicate txn for that day with modification feature.

• Select option for txns...

Few questions:
Would you mind describing the reasoning behind two similar category, spent & paid, Dr. txn takes place and reciprocately, we draw some benefit out of it, right? Or u kept it, paid whose benefit is standing/ continuous for a period of time. Spent, unwanted expenses?

Can suggest more, but it would create burden, take above things into
consideration only, if you think it suits your personal need as well for which the app is created primarily.

Seems the one who stolen your idea and created similar app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.credit.card.online.creditcard.creditcardmanager) with same UI and all is not available anymore, any action taken, if so, great. 👏

Since the all data are encrypted and stored in the device itself, including sensitive card details, so it's also irrevocable right? No one has control over it, right?

It would be better if you can throw some light over it.

Actually, marking a transaction as 'Spent' implies that you've used your card to pay for something (a debit transaction), whereas marking it as 'Paid' means that you've made or received a payment towards your card's outstanding amount (a credit transaction).

If you enjoy Spendr as it is and don’t want any changes, I recommend creating a backup of the current APK version so you can continue using it in its current form for as long as you like.

  • All information is stored in an offline SQL database, and card details are encrypted using a 60-character encryption key. Your 6-digit numeric passcode is used as a SALT for this encryption.
  • To enable fingerprint-based decryption, the app encrypts your 6-digit passcode using the main encryption key and securely stores it. When your fingerprint is authorized, the app first decrypts your passcode and then uses it as SALT to decrypt your card details.

Would you mind describing the reasoning behind two similar category, spent & paid, Dr. txn takes place and reciprocately, we draw some benefit out of it, right? Or u kept it, paid whose benefit is standing/ continuous for a period of time. Spent, unwanted expenses?
The button is used for categorizing debit and credit transactions. Since 'Debit' and 'Credit' might be confusing for some users, I renamed them to 'Spent' and 'Paid'. To add a debit transaction, you can click on 'Spent', and for credit transactions such as card repayments, refunds, or cashback credits you can click on 'Paid'.

Can suggest more, but it would create burden, take above things into
consideration only, if you think it suits your personal need as well for which the app is created primarily.
I truly appreciate all your suggestions, and I had initially planned to include many more features in the app. However, due to time constraints and the app being non-profitable, I couldn’t implement those features, and the app hasn’t received updates for the past year. I’ve passed all your suggestions to the new team, and I hope they’ll enhance the app in the future.

If anyone has any questions or suggestions about Spendr’s future plans, they can contact the new team via email: lynx.app.solutions@gmail.com
