Do you think ARM will replace X86-64 Intel, AMD processors in desktops and servers?

Possible. Even cloud also supporting more of these processors. So, we can expect all of them can be equal in near future and no more Intel rule!.
Intel already losing market share because of AMD desktop, Laptop and Server processors are now more powerful and energy efficient.

Then the news about Intel processors turning out to be faulty is a different story.

It's not just about competing with ARM; Intel also has to fight with AMD in the x86-64 space, but it's losing there too because AMD has now become the number one choice for everyone in x86-64.

In the third quarter of 2024, roughly 62 percent of x86 computer processor or CPU tests recorded were from Intel processors, while 35.5 percent were AMD processors.

And these 62% shares, according to some sources, if old Intel processors are excluded, the market share has almost become 50-50, Intel vs AMD.

Apart from all this, recently, this news came - The ARM-based servers market in North America held a share of 36.3% in 2023.

And Europe, India, China, and other Asian countries are all rapidly shifting to ARM server processors.

Our Indian startup companies are also choosing ARM servers.

Zomato Boosted Performance 25% and Cut Compute Cost 30% Migrating Trino and Druid Workloads to AWS Graviton ARM Server processor.

Depends on how much Microsoft self-destructs or ruins Windows themselves without Apple doing anything crazy with macOS. The faster Windows goes down, x86 also goes down. If people are gonna be switching CPU architectures, I think they will move to another OS as well. If Windows makes a comeback with a quality OS that people feel like actually using and which is a genuine improvement, instead of just being blackmailed and forced into "upgrading", then x86 will survive and thriwe.

Mac OS is not as powerful as it appears to be.

In a comparison between 1 lakh Windows PC and 1 lakh Mac OS machine, Windows PC Rin Supreme se dho k rakh dega MAC ko. 😀😀

The problem is that if you step out of your house and ask you to pick 100 people, 90 of them won’t be very tech-savvy.

That’s where Apple works its magic.

Apple understands that 90% of the market very well.

Windows on ARM will have to work hard to capture that same 90% market. Actually, Windows on ARM has already reached that point. The entire Windows OS has been re-written for ARM.

All the necessary apps for normal usages, app development, programming are already available for Windows on ARM, except for some Adobe and Autodesk software. Photoshop has already been ported to ARM.

The effort Microsoft has put into Windows on ARM in 2024, if they continue the same level of effort for the next 2-3 years, they won’t need to do much more.

Satya Nadella just needs to convince the shareholders and board of directors to accept slightly lower revenue from Windows OS for a few years and invest millions of dollars into improving app compatibility for Windows on ARM. That’s all they need to do, nothing more.

Then, the hype around Apple's M series will eventually fuss out on its own.

Of course, Windows is more versatile than Mac OS For real power users, macOS is a toy OS. But majority of the customer base doesn't need all that functionality. Whatever macOS offers is good enough for Grandma and Joe Average. And Windows completely owns the Enterprise market - they're not going anywhere so fast. The way Windows can be centrally managed via Active Directory and Group Policy, macOS has nothing proper like that. But I wouldn't be surprised if because of the terribleness of newer Windows, consumers started moving towards macOS.

Microsoft has history of ruining things.
They first come up with an optimised product then keep on filling it with ads and telemetry until it bogs down.
  • e.g.- Most advertised feature of win 11: Android support is being killed next year.
  • Edge was most aesthetically clean browser until MS coloured it with their mess.
  • MS removed edge dictionary lookup, to save chindi money and push bing!!!
  • Win 11 ui is still slower on new processors... and list goes on.

Nutella did not care about Windows until corona happened!
Apple does care about User experience though it's debatable... while Micro$hit is Micro$hit!
Try running windows favourite child- MS office on Mac vs Windows, it works/looks way better on Mac! Even MS knows that windows users can be pushed over!

Depends on how much Microsoft self-destructs or ruins Windows themselves without Apple doing anything crazy with macOS.
It's not self destruct but uncontrollable greed and hypocrisy.
Nadella had child with disability and still had guts to say that MS Windows OS is the most user friendly os and designed with disability in mind... (back in 2018)

@Abhishek012 The failing attempt to refocus on windows comes not from care but revenue loss from other MS enterprises!
MS is cheap and will remain cheap forever!

Majority of the customer base includes a gaming customer base as well.

There is no alternative to Windows in this segment.

Windows on ARM doesn't support many games yet, but it still supports more than macOS.

People interested in gaming don't necessarily buy PCs worth ₹1 lakh; even budget Windows PCs will support 100% of all games.

Apple's products have become very low in quality over the last decade. If anything happen, people might have to sell a kidney.

In the past few years, Complaints in Apple Care are continuously increasing.

The Apple Mac Mini that has been launched has an earthing problem. Remember the Apple Can-like product that came out a few years ago? Why did it disappear from the market? Because the entire product was faulty, and the same issue exists in the Apple Mac Mini.

The desktop OS market share in India is quite interesting.

People prefer using Linux over macOS.

In 2023, a funny thing happened—these unknown OSes captured a significant market share in India.

Microsoft isn’t cheap, dude. It’s just that common people use its affordable products.

All business PCs are fully optimized.

but still offline laptop market share heavily on intel side. to change people should aware there are other processors.

Yes, I have seen that Indians still think Intel is the best and that AMD processors over heat ups. When in reality, the situation has completely reversed.

Intel is now called a room heater.

The shift from x86-64 to ARM processors in desktops and servers is gaining momentum, but it is unlikely to fully replace Intel and AMD just yet. ARM offers power efficiency and strong performance, making it ideal for mobile devices and specific server applications. However, x86-64 still dominates legacy software and high-performance computing.

My own experience lately is that AMD is offering excellent multi-core performance and battery life of even my AMD gaming laptops has been way superior to Intel's gaming laptops

The everyday use is more and more becoming "cloud based". Most users do not even utilise 10% of the power their machine is capable of.
Cheap chromebooks are gradually creating a niche market. Plus they now have the advantage of being able to run android apps. With Indians obsessed with "cost" and majority of smartphones running android, acceptance of chromebooks by ordinary users expected to increase.
Once Blackberry used to be No1. Now they are non-existent. So who knows what the future will be.

AMDs recent integrated NPU will enhance operation speeds with parallel support of NVIDIA GPUs...

Also this below air cooling technology seems good but wherever air pollution is more will not work seems
