Does RAM upgrade make windows faster?

Check the laptop support page, they mention the maximum the slot can support.
I would again advise you to buy an 8GB stick. and combine with your existing soldered 4GB in total 12 GB RAM will make your life easier.
From my experience, I can tell you that if you are a regular average user, this would suffice your needs and maybe change your mind about upgrading to a new laptop for a year or so.
Ok then, will follow your advise and get 8gigs more.
Thanks

Buy the RAM with the same frequency as your older one i.e. 2133Hz otherwise even if you buy with a higher frequency it will still match the slower one. And Getting a RAM will definitely improve your overall experience. And before buying refer to the manual of your model and you can search in the forums regarding upgrade there you can find relevant details.
Got it, thanks

One of my friends is using an I5-5200U processor laptop with 4Gb ram and 500gb ssd and is a programmer and uses some heavy softwares too. I am in a dilemma whether to get another 4gb ram or an 8gb one.
What would you guys suggest?

Can anyone help me out for this, please? 🙂

If it is normal day to day usage RAM upgrade can help. But if you are going to use heavy applications then it won't work as the processor will be the bottleneck. So upgrading to a new laptop with a good processor will be a good choice.

Thanks a lot for your response. 🙂

By upgrading your RAM, you can improve multitasking, reduce lag, and improve the overall performance of your computer. By increasing your system's RAM, you will be able to run multiple applications smoothly without experiencing any slowdowns. You can boost your system's performance by upgrading your RAM if it struggles with speed.

Hi everyone,
I have a Lenovo laptop with i3 7100u and it already has a SSD but only 4GB RAM.
I mainly used it for my classes and for web surfing.
Lately the chrome has started to feel sluggish and I am not able to watch 1080p youtube as the laptop starts to lag and frames get skipped, hence I was looking to upgrade my RAM from 4GB to 8GB by adding another 4gig stick.

Would this help in my case?
Please let me know.

Thanks
Bro, before upgrading ram extend your page size to see the effect, if it works well then go for upgrading RAM

4GB is 2024 is too low even for basic tasks. One couldn't even get away with 8GB even with 4 tabs the memory will be full. My suggestion is you have two options
  1. Check if your laptop supports multiple RAM slots with dual channel
    1. and if the above is true, you can get 2x8GB sticks
  2. If you only have a single DIMM slot, you need to check the max memory capacity and get a single stick
  3. Or you can switch to linux, there are several flavours, which you can choose from

See if one is buying a new PC and plan to use it beyond 5yrs (which is not a big deal these days considering now powerful these laptops have become for day to day task) then consider 16gb in 8*2 format.
For old devices like mine 8gb works like a charm.
