I don't think there is another alternative of cash for small merchants, unless they accept cards in which case Debit cards/credit cards.

I wish government subsidies MDR charges for small merchants. But I can also see it getting exploited heavily.

Was UPI Lite down during NPCI issue? Afaik it was offline so could have worked?

You may send the money via UPI Lite, what about the receiver? If the receiver's server is down how will they receive the money?

Issue is the visibility, Ive seen merchants who didn't know how to check if they received a payment on phone if the sound box failed.
SMS Alerts might not be enabled

Assuming u get hold of their bank details.

Agree, Yes that could happen, there can be endless scenarios, I usually don’t carry cash as in 99% times we pays via upi, when UPI was not working I went to a ice cream parlour and there I could not find any solution, so thought if this thread can help anyone in the future upi failures.
