Finally Closed my SBI BPCL Card

I was using sbi bpcl from last 10 months, raising complaints and tracking them everytime you refuel your car is not worth. moreover the points are not 0.25p for mainstream vouchers like amazon. they take 7500 points for 1000 amazon voucher. sometimes they don't even reverse the fuel surcharge. Conclusion: Its not worth.

How well does the Smartdrive app work? I'm wondering if it would be more valuable to purchase BPCL Smartdrive vouchers from Amex Gyftr rather than using the SBI BPCL card. If Smartdrive has good acceptance across BPCL outlets, maybe Amex would work out best.

Smartdrive is accepted one in 25 outlets or 1 in 50 outlets as far as my experience

I filled up 3 times in last billing cycle, 3400, 1900 and 2800. all in bpcl pumps but got points and fuel surcharge waiver for 2800 only. didn't get for 3400 and 1900. uts happening every time

Strange. I have filled up across India without any issues. In Ludhiana as well.

Yes exactly @psmangat5 my brother had SBI Octane card it was a hit or miss. Sometimes points are credited but otherwise if it was bijlipay or mswipe POS or some other machine forget about points.

@Lobogris may be you are lucky. Till date I have only seen one card that is SC titanium giving 4% cashback otherwise in my opinion fuel cards are not worth the hype.

I have the SC Titanium as well and in fact that one sometimes misses on cashback while SBI BPCL has never ever missed it. Success rate is about 70% with SC and absolute 100% with SBI.

I hold the BPCL card... but I've never checked the point credited and fuel surcharge reverse... I only redeem them against BPCL vouchers...

Is BPCL octane better ? how to upgrade from BPCL to octane ??
Is there any other fuel cobranded cc of other bank which provide good rewards ??

Isn't it just scan the QR and pay ??
I feel it is the most basic thing as it is the product of BPCL they must have pasted QR everywhere ??

Adding my response from similar thread:

There are so many conditions to match in order to get reward points.
And going by the posts here, I know for a fact that most people just look at headline of card features, but don't bother reading T&C.

Min transaction amount, Max transaction amount, POS machine's bank & It's MCC code, mode of payment, monthly capping -> so many things have to match as per T&C to get reward points or fuel surcharge waiver.
I am not surprised that people complain about not getting reward points. Most likely they are missing one or multiple eligibility criterias.

Also, got to know from YouTube comments that for BPCL rupay cards, UPI Scan payments doesn't gives you fuel surcharge & reward points.

But I was not talking about the RuPAY upi ... I was saying about the SmartDrive app in which the amount is loaded in wallet and that we can scan and pay on the smart drive QR if available at the BPCL outlets...

In lots of rural areas (based on my exp), cash is still the king. Few of the pumps will max have UPI qr code. POS machine are imaginary things in such pumps.

Don't count the villages in the municipal bounds of Delhi/Mumbai/Bangalore as true representation of all villages of India.

Well what most I've seen is, in villages the pumps are at highways only... Villages are small so highway is nearby and is easy for fuel refilling...

I've mostly swiped cards in the villages areas.. mostly I've seen POS... I'm from rajashthan btw...

Yes, any petrol station that accepts credit cards.

Nope, QR scanning won't work, there is an open bug for years on that. You need to pay with mobile number and most outlets don't accept it

Closed my 7 years old SBI simply click today. They have taken all my Reward points and 430 cash for some Txn on Amazon. To be fair,Had they credited 500 points for the purchase, they should have taken 500 points back but not the money and entire RPs. now a days SBI is behaving very un ethical and illogical.

Just use park plus for petrol voucher discount and move on. No need to track anything. It is just pure bliss. Sbi cards except cashback card are not worth the hassle.
