Back in 2023 when I had an Axis Flipkart card, I got a call from an Axis executive who stated that I have an upgrade offer for Axis Atlas. The joining fee will be 5k and the renewal fee will also be 5k but if I manage to spend 600k, this fee will be waived
Once i got the card I put all of my expenses on it and managed to cross the required 600k last year itself. I then dropped an email to Nodal officer asking if my fee will be reversed for which I got a positive response stating that fee waiver would be applicable for me if I manage to spent “3,00,000” in an anniversary year.
However on my renewal month, I was charged 5000+900 gst.
I again contacted cs but was quickly denied any fee waiver.
I then raised my complain through the escalation matrix to PNO of axis while also attaching the previous interaction number as well as the screenshot of the Nodal officer’s email which clearly stated that waiver is applicable upon spending 3,00,000/-
I was kept on hold with a delay in response for 2 months and then when I finally received a reply from the PNO team, they stated that “the existing policy was revised by the product team” and waiver is no longer possible”
Now my disappointment turned to frustration after which I threatened the PNO team that I will escalate this with Ombudsman to which the bank asked to go ahead and proceed with the complaint! 😶
With all my hatred for Axis, I raised a complaint on BO portal in Jan 2025 and received a response from PNO where they sent the same generic response as before.
The BO asked me if i was satisfied with the given clarification. I reiterated my dissatisfaction in the reply and also stated how the waiver was specific to my case and how they can’t deny a fee waiver!
Fast forward to today when I was checking my Axis bank app, I noticed an annual fee waiver of 5000 along with the applicable GST.
I then navigated to the BO portal which stated that the complaint has been closed but they haven’t stated the clause of closure and the closure date yet!
Seems like it will be updated soon.
I’d given up on it entirely but it seems like if we have the evidence to back up our claims the BO will indeed come to our rescue.
