First Credit Card?

kuchrm

TF Buzz
Many people say first credit card should be core card but here I have some confusion like first core card of every particular bank while applying their bank's first card or it doesn't matter which bank I have to take core card as first Credit Card.

Sorry for the poor English.

Get families with top most premium card offered by bank. Choose one which you want to have in future and go for core card of that bank

For Example if you want to have DCB metal or HDFC infinia as your super premium card then apply for HDFC moneback or Millenia

If your aim is for Axis Reserve, Burgundy Private, Magnus then start with Axis myzone or neo

If your Aim is ICICI Times Black or Emeralde Private Metal, start with icici coral

Other such options to go with as first card are
IDFC Millennia
BOB Select
SBI Simplyclick, Simplysave
RBL Shoprite
AU Lit.

I would suggest to choose amongst Axis, hdfc as your first card. One cibil is generated go for amex and then keep upgrading/getting new cards based on needs

Cibil is 754 and age is 2 month's because
I have taken IDFC secured card.

Whatever i have read here in the forum, i got to know from it that we have to take atleast our first card (life's first card lol) as a lifetime free card (unsecured ) regardless of whether it is core card or cobranded card from whatever options we have in the market. This is to safeguard our cibil score in the future to keep longer credit history. As if this card is devaluated in the near future, we will not have to pay unnecessary annual fees for that and can keep it active even if we don't want to use it anymore. This mess we see here, like cobranded first or core card first is created by hdfc bank. Incase you are planning to get hdfc card, you should go for their core card first as they don't entertain if you want core card after taking cobranded card. Otherwise, all of the other banks here, they don't hesitate to give core card to their cobranded card holders (obviously you will have to use some tricks to get that, but it's not that hard as compared to hdfc)

Inshort, take whatever you want but be cautious while dealing with hdfc.

In that case take hand on Amex MRCC or Plat Travel

And go for HDFC Millennia or Regalia Gold whichever offered.

And if you want to go into Axis then get Axis Airtel/Myzone/Neo/Atlas depends on your usage

If you can, go for savings account with hdfc and use their debit card at your max extent. You will most probably get pre-approved offers within 6 months. Otherwise get one more secured card and use both of them for 6 months. Until then, don't think of applying anything.

Additionally, the best time to apply any card is the March Ending and Diwali time.

Thanks for the brief details.

Will they approve
Amex will be approved as you have cibil.

Hdfc and axis you have to have some income proof or try c2c basis.

Best way to get it to have salary account or saving account with that bank. With saving account offer start coming afte 3-6 months. While for salary account while opening you can get their basic LTF cards.

I have savings account with HDFC opened this month only, currently from all sources I get around Rs 30000 but I am not doing any particular job type. So Amex will ask any type of income proof or not ?

Consider AmEx at a later stage in life when you earn well and think of yourself as an expert on credit cards. It is not for beginners. Be vary of people suggesting AmEx because AmEx has a very juicy referral program (remember Amway?). For HDFC, Millennia is ideal for you especially if you are getting it LTF. For SBI, Cashback card is recommended. For Axis, Ace is my pick unless you use Airtel Broadband in which case the Airtel one should be your pick.

Ok at current cibil score 754 credit age 2 months , 1 hard enquiry in July and 5 in November, currently have IDFC secured card. Have HDFC Bank savings account from 1 month and SBI savings account from 6 years. My age 21 , side earning and allowance from parents comes to 30,000. Please consider this situation and please tell me if I am eligible or not for now.

I have HDFC digisave youth savings account
Convert it into Max savings acc n use it's debit card. Have seen so many here who got pre-approved offers from hdfc.
Note :- Don't forget to show yourself as a salaried person with high income.

SBI savings account from 6 years.
I too, have it for 9 years. Don't expect from them for savings account. They don't consider savings account for offers unless you have long term secured loan (Home loan) or salary account.
1 hard enquiry in July and 5 in November
With just 2-3 months history, this enquiries may shake your cibil hard.
Should control for a while.

Actually my Cibil went up from 748 to 754 after that enquiries. And I put student with income 35000 which is in reality true. Should I convert it to salary or self employed with high income. Will they ask any type of income proof when they give me pre-approved offer?

Since HDFC is running a limited time LTF offer I suggest checking out at least HDFC CC offers page. Others can wait for 6 months. 5 inquiries is a lot in a month.
