Fraud in name of Income Tax?

I got this call from this number. After receiving the call "There will be a mandatory deduction from your account today from Income Tax Department. You are being connected to a Tax official"

But then I disconnected the call.

Most likely a fraud? Is it

IT dept will never call you, they will directly block your bank account and send notice to collect money. 🙂

Truecaller se apne aap ko delist kar sakte ya khud hi genuine profile bana sakte

Call from Iraq? 🤣🤣

TRAI is putting bamboo in India mobile service providers (they only sold our data in first pace, mobile connected to adhar , adhar connected to PAN )
So the scammer buying VOIP services and evading TRAI's regulation.

People ned to report such calls to TRAI, in 1909 , reporting in true caller is just tagging the number as spammer, but no action against the caller.

It is a genuine call, did you not know our tax department offices were recently shifted to Iraq

I just got an automated call (indian number) today morning 21/11/2025 from IT dept stating that there will be a mandatory deduction from my bank ac & to press 5 for more info. I did & got answered by a guy who asked what the call was about. I told him & it just cut off or he cut off? That call had actually woken me up from my sleep so I think my voice may have sounded a bit hoarse/bass compared to my normal voice. Around half hr later I got a call with the same msg from a different number but I cut the call halfway. My best guess is that the guy if he was a n00bie cut the first call either cos he was intimidated by my voice or to figure out his next steps. Glad I searched & got this thread to realize it's a scam.
