I got these Amazon Prime vouchers from almost every app but I am scared to redeem them via SBI Cards as they will forfeit points or money suddenly after we have redeemed the points. Shaitan 👹👿 company hai - not to be trusted at all.

Btw the latest one to get this voucher is the Fibe Loans app. You've to play some silly game to get ₹100 voucher for 5000 points.

Do sbi really do that? I wasn't aware about it? Can you tell me what's the issue exactly?

So SBI cards as you may know give a lot of instant discounts. A few years ago they changed their policy so reward points earned on normal card txns would not be given if an instant discount is given (called double dipping). But they didn't care to implement it in their systems. Instead they carelessly and erroneously give both - instant discount as well as reward points. Then once a year they do a card financial transaction review (usually in December). That is when they figure out for which instant discount txns, customers were given reward points and they subtract/take away those points.

Now if by that time, the customer has redeemed those reward points, they directly take money from the card instead. However their calculations are not transparent and users have found that many times they have made huge errors in calculating exactly how many points or money to forfeit. They put a clause in Terms and Conditions which you must accept to use their cards.

It says basically that you agree to them forfeiting your reward points or equivalent amount of money from the card. I don't trust them one bit as many people on Technofino and Desidime community reported that they took away more than the user had redeemed.

This is rather outrageous behavior and RBI is doing nothing about it. They should not erroneously award those points in the first place rather than taking them away MONTHS later. This has caused loss of trust for SBI cards and people use them only for the instant discounts as points keep getting devalued and forfeited without a transparent explanation or calculation. Only if you escalate the issue and demand a breakdown they send you a rather difficult to understand computation of how they deducted those RPs.

Another issue with SBI cards is where accelerated 10X or 5X RPs are supposed to be given, they very often give only 1X because of wrong MCC/merchant code. At that time, escalating for each txn is also painful but they never fail to forfeit the "instant discount" txn points every year.

The only good card from them is SBI Cashback (which also btw faces the issue that many times erroneously, instant discount is working on it, when it's supposed to be only a 5% cashback card).

Try to renew by clicking on the button here. It shows a check box for Prime Balance which can be selected.
I faced the same issue when trying to renew from the "Your Account" page. But worked after using the above method.
Such banner was not available for me earlier, also you can renew only the same annual plan, you can't choose other plan unless it gets expired.
