🏦 My Experience at the Branch
I visited the Union Bank branch near my home, where I maintain a Union Young Professional Account.
When I first discussed the card with the credit card staff, she had no idea about the product. She asked me to come back later.
On my next visit, she provided me with the list of required documents mentioned above.
First tip: Always send an email to the branch attaching all your required documents. In my case, I emailed the branch’s official address with all the scans.
This is crucial for future reference if you need to escalate to RBI Ombudsman, especially in PSU banks.
Despite multiple follow-ups, nothing moved forward. The staff simply kept saying, "I will do it later."
After 20 days, I escalated the matter to the bank’s grievance team. Again, there was no response.
After 30 days, I filed a complaint with the RBI Ombudsman. Only after this step did the branch staff finally apply for the credit card in the system.
Following this, there was still no communication or progress update.
Finally, two months after my first visit, I received the card.
📝 Final Thoughts
It was a long process, but it proved that proper documentation and escalation through the right channels can make things happen — especially when dealing with PSU banks.- Always email the branch first with all your documents.
 - Keep records of every communication.
 - If the branch delays unnecessarily, don’t hesitate to escalate to the grievance team, and finally after 30 days, Raise the compliant to the RBI Ombudsman.
