Devaluation GVP & Swiggy Dineout

There are a couple of HDFC features/programs on HDFC cards which are either discontinued or revised. This impacts all cards which has these benefits:

GVP :
Discontinued from Dec 26, 2024. https://offers.smartbuy.hdfcbank.com/offer_details/gvp/24664/Z2epmWc=
Cards which had this benefit activated would continue to be able to avail the benefit. It will remain active until explicitly deactivated.

Swiggy Dineout:
Although HDFC Bank hasn’t confirmed this but the new update is visible on Swiggy Dineout. Customer executives do not have rhe latest on this.

There was 15% discount one can avail up to 1000 Rs on a min. transaction of 2500 Rs on Swiggy Dineout. Now looks like this has been revised as below
- Max 10% discount up to max 500 Rs on transaction amount of min. 3500 Rs (and < 8000)
- Max 10% discount up to max 1000 Rs on min. 8000 Rs
Customer care doesn’t have a clue about this.

It appears that HDFC bank is getting a restricted with benefits that it offers to its card holders. More so, such changes are not being communicated.

Yeah, that's the only thing we can do now until they devalue that as well 🙁

But it's still a big devaluation, I was using this offer atleast twice every month since last couple of months and would anyday prefer 15% discount + ~3.3% rewards instead of 16.6% rewards.

15% instant discount + 3.3% regular value back on the amount paid post this discount is anytime better than 16.67% value back thru vouchers.

Zomato & Swiggy vouchers are in line for devaluation (2.5-3 processing free like Amazon vouchers) as it appears to me.

Got the eazydiner premium for a year from amex but couldn't find a lot of places that I visit (in hyd). On eazydiner, It's mostly very fancy places or restaurants/bars inside big hotel chains like sheraton pr meridian but not the usual cafes or breweries.

Thanks a ton. I too just placed a request for the same. It was discontinued but people made several requests which made bank to reinstate the program.

Can’t share screenshot of a telephonic discussion but @himanshu09 has shared one if you need one from SmartBuy portal.
I suggest, you try calling them again. It’s very likely that the executive you spoke to wasn’t up to date as it got reinstated in last couple of days.

Now with GVP done, thinking where to make a transaction of 1 cent or less 😁😃 as I see no international spends in next 60 days for myself coming up.

GVP on my card got activated on Jan 13 and then I had made an international transaction on Jan 18. I received 1% cashback for that transaction, however, no fee (199+tax) has been charged on the card yet and it’s been about a month already.

What could be the reason?
- fee would be eventually be charged. OR
- since GVP fee was charged on my previous card, in Mar/Apr ‘24, which got upgraded to Infinia, no fee would be levied on the upgraded card. Please note that I got GVP deactivated in June ‘24 on my previous card and so I had to get it reactivated on my upgraded card. Looks like since the GVP fee was already paid in last 12 months, they may not levy it again but I’m not sure.

Not that it’s a big deal but asking out of curiosity just to know how it works better.
