Luxury brands offer MDR discounts on Amex cards too because their margins are high and in the case you mentioned HD was on stress during the exit. But X440 was completely focussed on Indian markets in collab with Hero. Imagine during I enquired about X440 purchase and dealer was hesitant on reducing the swipe charges and demanded 2% extra, as there was huge waiting and demand.

I'm not into bikes so I won't be able to comment on HD discount and sales strategy but this is what I saw in 2022 in Delhi. X440 is a recent launch in collaboration with Hero if I'm not wrong.
