Some facts in my case....
1. I had taken an HDFC Home Loan for Rs 20L way back in 2010. I prepaid the loan by 2015. Missed only one payment due to some cheque issue. I had also taken a car loan from a different bank for 15L taken in 2014 and finished in 2021 - never missed any payment in this.
2. I opened an HDFC savings account only in 2019. I had some savings and some FDs. It was not a salary account. Imperia account.
3. I did not have any credit card - only debit card. The first time I applied ever for a credit card was this year when I applied for Infinia Metal in March 2024 and got it approved over 2-3 days on mobile by speaking to my RM cum BM. Received the card in April.
4. After receiving Infinia Metal as the first credit card of my life, I checked my CIBIL score in May 2024 and it said NH i.e. No History. Haven't checked CIBIL again after that.
So, I don't know if any home loan (taken long ago and pre-paid/finished long ago) impacts your chances of any HDFC credit card. But these are the facts in my case.... if you can draw any worthwhile inference(s) from them.
But my hunch says... a good and positive home loan relationship with HDFC - even if long ago - does help indirectly in ascertaining worthiness for issue of any HDFC credit card.
Hope it helps you in some way. 🙂
