HDFC DCB (LTF) to Infinia upgrade. Need advice

Even I am interested in knowing the switch from inifina metal to plastic….

Copy-pasting my reply to a user from above in the same thread:

"At the time, I wanted to use the Infinia as my 'only' card. The metal card's tap-to-pay feature works only on one side (you can run a search to see why this is the case - metal cards rely on a plastic layer to enable this feature). The 10th time I told a shopkeeper to turn the card over (to tap), I decided this was simply too inconvenient (I might as well have stayed with the DCB which never worked on tap-to-pay machines). I emailed PriorityRedressal.CreditCards@ about this and they offered me the downgrade. Win-win for me since I'm not a 'huge' spender and the annual fee waiver also came down (from 10L for metal to 8L for plastic)."

I sent my upgrade form, ITR, and docs for a Diners Club Metal upgrade. Tracking shows it was delivered 4 days ago via India Post, but no update yet.
How long did it take for you to get confirmation? Ivent gotten any emails to date.
Trying to gauge if it’s a 1-week or 2-week process coz I have a payment due soon and want to plan ahead.

IDK if they will even upgrade (9L Avg Bal, 9.15L CL, 2.3L net credit with HDFC, 37L ITR, but low spends <1L in the last 6 months)

You should be able to see the new card in the app once it’s approved.

got an email from "CreditCardOps.Maintenance@hdfcbank.net" saying "We regret to inform you that we are unable to process your upgrade / conversion request as it does not meet the above mentioned internal criteria of the bank." i replied asking for escalation and also sent an email to grievance.redressalcc@hdfc.bank.in. Is this a battle worth fighting?

I was able to upgrade from DCP to DCB this year by providing the docs via email. I guess sending hard copies to Chennai isn't the only way.

IIRC you need to fulfill at least one of Salary (2.5L) or spends (5L in 6 months).

I think it's now 12L plus and spend around 9L. And in some cases they have started asking and rejecting based on salary criteria too.

In case of upgrade, salary isn’t the main criterion and they don’t even ask for it. Just CL+ Spends.

May be I’m not up to date. If that’s true then I’m not sure how many would meet all 3 criteria at the same time.
Also, given PP is not to be used for domestic lounges and other restrictions, cards like EPM & HSBC premier make more sense over Infinia

Now spends are also something they overlook. It's credit limit and salary mainly. Spends is secondary.

yes EPM wins over Infinia now any day .. Just missing piece is travel partners .. else for domestic flier EPM wins
