Hi guys, I am really confused about the meaning of core and floater cards in HDFC. I have read numerous threads in this community about the same. Some places people say that super premium HDFC core cards get rejected if you have any floater card.
My question is :
1) Which HDFC cards are Core and which are Floater.
2) Is there any rule as to how many core or floater card one can have from HDFC.
3) Is there any rule according to which some card can get rejected if you have another card.

Thanks in advance.

The core card has nothing to do with the floater card. You can apply for both.

HDFC core cards (Visa/master/Diners/RuPay) - Freedom New, Moneyback+. Millennia, Regalia, Regalia Gold, Infinia, Infinia Bharat and all Diners cards.

floater card - Virtual RuPay Credit Card.

Did you confuse floater card with co branded card?

Floater card is any card (co branded or core) that shares same limit. For example, bizblack, a core card can be floater to dcb or infinia?

Floater card is any card (can be core or cobranded) which is approved based on a pre-existing card with the shared limit. Like I got Swiggy HDFC card as my very first HDFC card last year. After 3 months of using it, HDFC gave me the Tata neu+ card as floater to my primary card(Swiggy). It has shared limit. In HDFC u can get any cobranded card as floater to ur primary core card but the opposite is almost impossible(getting core as floater to cobranded).

1) Which HDFC cards are Core and which are Floater.
Core Cards - Regalia, Infinia, Millenia, Diners, Money Back etc.
Floater - If you get a card after already having one existing HDFC credit cards, where the new card shares the same credit limit as your existing card. 2nd card, it can be cards like Swiggy or Rupay virtual or other co-brand, these share limits with existing cards.

2) Is there any rule as to how many core or floater card one can have from HDFC.
Yes, If you already hold a core card your application for another core card (Strong possibility, it happened to me personally) can be rejected or issued as floater. So 1 core & 1co-brand or rupay without a doubt you can apply.

3) Is there any rule according to which some card can get rejected if you have another card.
Yes, they will reject due to HDFC policy.
