HDFC Imperia queries

I have received an email regarding Imperia upgrade. It's also showing in my HDFC net banking's offers section.

Here are my some of my queries:

  1. I have received the LTF Business Regalia a few months ago, will upgrading my account to Imperia, increases my chance of getting Infinia?
  2. Do I get a virtual RM or a local RM?
  3. If I break some of the FD’s, and the total relationship value falls below 30lacs (which is required for Imperia) will I be downgraded to Preferred? Are there any charges for the same? The Imperia page says there are NIL charges for non maintenance. Any other hidden charges?
  4. As of now, my account is single, if I am unable to maintain high value, can I add my sister later on, so it becomes a group? Will that change anything?
  5. In a Group ID, as it has a one single customer ID, can everyone see everyone's balance/transactions?
  6. Are there any cons of margin accounts in a Group ID? Can we break it later on if required?

Banks usually prefer having lockers at in home branch..
I don't think there is any rule for it, so you may give a try at your nearest branch

If you have good relations with your home branch BM, then you may ask him to talk with local BM/RM for giving locker once you apply for it

I just spoke to my virtual RM, she is saying my account is eligible for imperia upgrade as i am holding good amount in Fds/Rds, also its a salary account.

She is ready to upgrade it manually from backend, should i go ahead?

So when I got Imperia upgrade, I was asked if I want the RM in my home branch, I said No, and selected the branch I wanted RM from. I did this because I know the person who would have been my RM in Imperia, and he was not very helpful in past, and is just a usual ULIP sales person. So I got the RM in the branch I picked, my RM happens to be a BM. I called him 2 days ago regarding locker. He said I can get the locker in his branch, and if I want it in my home branch, he'll have to enquire about the availability. Anyway, I picked his branch, did all the formalities. So yeah, you can get the locker in any branch you want, no rules against it, it depends on the availability, and your RM.

TIP: If your RM is not helpful, send a request for a change.

Changing the RM is not that easy in HDFC, i have tried in past, and till now they are still fighting for the position both old and new.

So i gave up. Whoever calls me i assume that person is my RM. 😜😛😛

Yes, RM do keep changing, I had 10's of them so far in the last 7years or so.

It depends upon your needs.

But good part with Imperia account is that you get lot of benefits like locker rental free, higher variant Debit card free, 1% rewards up to 750/monthly and free with that EasyShop Imperia platinum etc.

downside is that, if you NRV falls below it, then they will downgrade or start charging for all the above

I have a preferred variant right now, and I don't find any difference between Imperia and Preferred.
So, I am exploring options in other banks.

My Journey with HDFC

1. Started with HDFC Saving Max account..
2. Adter few months it showe my Regalia CC, applied .rejected (some stupid reason given by bank ).
3. ICICI RM was not helpful, this is when I decided to move out some of my funds out of ICICI. Opened HDFC imperia with 5Lac funding and choice of account number .
4. Ban on HDFC for new CC came into effect...
5. Expanded my imperia group to include mother and Wife (gold and saving max account ).
6. Ban got lifted and HDFC gave me preapproved infinia (yes...my 1st card with HDFC directly Infinia ). ..offer was showing online I checked with RM he confirmed the same..and I applied..
7. Got add-on cards for all members..


So yes..Imperia and NAV helps to get higher varient of cards.

Also, you can convert your mom and wife's account also into Imperia one, that is good part of Imperia GRP account.

That way you will get additional 2 EasyShop Imperia Platinum Chip Debit Card and other benefits like Free lockers etc. 🙂

Imperia group and account types are different..hope you know that..all my accounts are under same group. But different account varients.. ..MAB is at Group level and only 1 Locker per group .

And no difference between Imperial vs another platinum debit card...I still hold my old platinum debit card..

You have a good amount being deposited every month through Salary, why not ask for the free upgrade? 🙂

As you are potential money generator for the bank(salary lies with them/account by default)

I got a basic relationship salary account opened up with them in Jan/Feb this year and I got a Preferred upgrade offer by August, hence I am not sure they will upgrade it to Imperia if I ask them 😛
What’s the lowest monthly salary that you have heard with an Imperia account?

Not sure, do not have one with HDFC(salary). but normally banks do offer special things like higher account variant with O balance or less balance than the normally required.

why don't you give it a shot on Imperia and try asking/demanding for it, as you have upper hand with regular deposit in form of salary, so yes, you can try flex them 🙂
