HDFC Millennia DC: Smartbuy 5% + 5% + 2.5%

Edit: The extra 2.5% on Sbuy not coming these days as confirmed by many. SO now it is 5% + 5% but Millennia CC still has 5%+1%..

This post is regarding earning 12.5% on Smartbuy using HDFC Millenia. There is nothing new in this but many of us are missing higher CB on low spend.

We all know that Millennia DC has max. cap of Rs.400 as 5% cashback so we mostly use it for 16000 CC Payment or some use it for wallet load of 40K.

The thing I analyzed today was, my friend in Dec- 2023 used his Millennia DC on smartbuy for Rs.5000 for flipkart voucher only and nowhere else. When I checked his rewards, it were 5% smartbuy cashback offer (upto Rs.1000/month) for HDFC cards i.e Rs.250 were credited in April 2024, 5% Millennia DC specific for txn on Smartbuy/Payzapp i.e as per TnC and also 2.5% as online usage. Total 375 was credited to him. Max. is 400.

With Millennia CC it was confirmed since years that smartbuy txns were giving 5% cashback + 1% online spend so total 6% but same is with Millennia DC also.

So next time when you buy A gift card from smartbuy worth Rs. 5340 will fetch you- Rs.267+133.50 = Rs. 400 (50 paisa 😆 will not be given as 400 is max limit). The smartbuy cashback of 5340*5/100= 267 will be extra and come under 1000 cashback category.

Main point missed was the 5% debit card specific cashback and 2.5% online and 1% offline/wallet load, all have a cumulative limit of max. 400. So most of us missed this thing as were spending more than 8000-16000 every month.

Solution
If it is 8.96%, then only I want to buy AGV 5000 every month using millennia DC; otherwise, it's a loss for me. The problem is I have to wait 90 days to verify. Thats why asking.
6.46% is guaranteed. Rest questionable now as some people told they didn't get it (extra 2.5%). I can't verify myself these days as paying 16K bills.
Another thing that confused me is... in Payzapp shop they are providing 3% for DC (all DC right?) but it was written 5% here https://www.hdfcbank.com/personal/pay/cards/millennia-cards/millennia-debit-card (ur given link). I can see the Payzapp page. It is clearly mentioned as 3%, and the change (5% to 3%) was possibly done 2-3 months back.
When you purchase APayV or any other voucher...
But in the benefits section, if you got the first benefit (5% on Smart buy) How would you qualify the second benefits (2.5% on cashpoints).

I would like to get your proof.
Because the 5% smartbuy is not linked to your DC. It is universal for every DC/CC and its limit is 5%, up to 1000 per month.

2.5% is specifically for the Millennia DC, and its limit is 2.5% up to 400.

Both are different & in total, you can earn up to 1400 per month in cashback using the Millennia DC.

This is a generic calculator, for pharmeasy, it's 10x. We are not purchasing pharmeasy vouchers.
This is not generic calculator. This is what one got as cashback. Let's see this infinia one. 150 Rs voucher in SmartBuy. So according to you. 5 RP for infinia and 5x = 25 RP for SmartBuy. Total 30 RP. My argument says that if you qualify for accelerated rewards, you are not qualify for base reward.

But here the total cashback is 25 Rs. Why?
5 RP for 150 Rs spends using infinia and 20 RP for SmartBuy (as bonus). Total 25 RP. Therefore base + bonus = accelerated that what people got. It's not accelerated + base. Although if you get additional discount from gyftr, that is instant discount and not the cashpoints or reward points.

Well, you can continue using your method, and others can continue using theirs. I can't explain any further :person-facepalming:

Marketplace is the same, but the reward rate is different.

If you want to use Gyftr, go through SmartBuy (through web) and use your DC.

(2) There are 3 possibilities:

Math:

- 5% (SB) + 5% (Additional millennia SB bonus) + 2.5% (online usage) - 3.54% = 8.96% (best-case scenario)

- 5% (SB) + 5% (Additional millennia SB bonus) - 3.54% = 6.46%

- 5% (SB) + 2.5% (online usage) - 3.54% = 3.96% (Chances are, you will get this one)

The 5% (SB) will definitely come through, but the rest depends on your luck.

Further, as per the main post shared by @desiviru here https://www.technofino.in/community/threads/hdfc-millennia-dc-smartbuy-5-5-2-5.27996/ indicates it is indeed 12.5%. But that post did not considered the AGV charges into account. Also payzapp vs Smartbuy thing need to be highlighted there. Though the post of @desiviru is indeed a valuable one.

Hence, I request, @desiviru or You @6ix9ine to make an update. I can also experiment on this but result will come only after three months.

Agreed, 8.96% would work wonders :'D

Very likely, I've never used PayZapp. @desiviru might have used it

Only desiviru can update that. Good luck with that, hope you get the 8.96% ^^

When you purchase APayV or any other voucher from Payzapp, it gives you only 3% in Payzapp CashPoints and 5% Millennia DC Usage on Smartbuy +2.5% (doubtful). Total 8% + 2.5%. Only other txns on Payzapp using Millennia DC like bill payments etc. provides you 5% (out of 400 wala cashback). So avoid Payzapp. I have already seen that. Mostly people think they will get 3% in cashpoints + 5% Payzapp (Out of 400) and 5% (Sbuy out of 1000). It's not so.

In futher post everything is made clear bro including payzapp txns. I wrote when you buy vouchers from sbuy. The vouchers with convinience charges aren't cutting down your cashback. If AGV/Flipkart has 3%+GST it is not reducing your card cashback value of 12.5%. You still get it. Convinience charges are by Sbuy on those vouchers so why would I consider that when others hundreds of vouchers don't have conv. fee? Like if you buy Reliance JioMart or swiggy vouchers you are getting 10%/12.5%.

Solution
No. It don't fetch 5%. My friend already confirmed that. Other bills do fetch. HDFC has isolated CC bill payments from its all platforms.
How they are fetching 5%? website mention that only shop through payzapp or smartbuy will fetch 5% and not recharge/bill payment etc.
That is separate thing ...use of wallet balance.. in that case we will get 1% (wallet load) +5% (for using wallet balance).

🤣 Sometimes you don't need to believe what's all in the TnC on website. I do stuff myself and make a view. Websites toh bahot kuch kehti hai. Kuch toh websites kahengi, websites ka kaam hai kehna aur hamara kaam hai apni hi nadi bana ke usme tairna :spouting-whale:.

You can also use HDFC SmartPay for other bills and get 5% if you have doubt on this.

Bhai jab sirf 400 max. cashback hai toh aap kaha kaha use karna chahtey ho Millennia DC ko? 8K txn mein sab khatam ho jata hai. Fir bhi knowledge ke liye bata raha hu. Just pay electricity bill and then choose your debit card and make payment. You will get 5% after 90 days.

@desiviru Marked your latest answer as solution so that someone coming here doesn't have to go through all 20+ pages. I've been watching this thread since the beginning. I know that extra 2.5% doesn't apply in recent times. For this reason or for some other reason, if you'd like to lock this thread, please let the mods know here or via DM. It's your thread. So, it's your call.

I will confirm it myself this month. But for that we need to wait till April 30 to get conclusive answer. Till then no locking of thread.

Locking an informative thread won't solve the issues. Things evolve with time, hence requires timely updation. If you lock it then users won't able to suggest update. More new thread take birth over time.

Rather than locking, marking good answers /(upvoting) is a better way out.

@Mr. Bean Are you sure 2.5% doesn't apply? I think @desiviru never said this in the whole thread.
