HDFC Reporting to CIBIL Every WEEK!

shrewdoc

TF Legend
I have noticed for the last 20-25 days, HDFC has been reporting to CIBIL every week starting from:

23 Nov → 30 Nov → 7 Dec

Previously HDFC used to report ONCE on month-end ie. on 30/31 of every month.

This is even faster and earlier than the RBI new guidelines of biweekly reporting w.e.f. 1 Jan, 2025:

My CIBIL is going all over the place ±10-12 points because of this as it deducts 10 points for any amount due in credit cards compared to Max Score when all dues are cleared.

So now, prepaying won't help much. It would be interesting to see if other banks follow suit, and it's implications on our credit score. I guess, CIBIL scoring mechanism would be needing a few tweaks now if this trend continues.

Is it the same for everyone? What are your thoughts on this?

just checked pnb started reporting early from this month. My statement date is 20th of each month. They usually report on month end.
That reported on 30th November & now on 18th December.

So I assume it's gonna be new norm across all card issuers & financial institutions.
I have created a Wiki thread to discuss the frequency of cibil reporting by various banks..

Thread 'New CIBIL reporting frequencies of Various Banks from Jan 2025' https://www.technofino.in/community...uencies-of-various-banks-from-jan-2025.35804/

Yes, for my Diners Privilege card, HDFC is reporting weekly.

First on 7/12 and next one on 15/12.

Because I had a purchase of >100K during this week, my score dropped from 804 to 786!

And no portal is allowing to prepay the bills. I tried on GPay, Unipay and Cred. So the utilization ratio is going up.

Is there a way to pay the bill before the Bill is generated?
As expected, HDFC reported on 22/12 and since I paid the bill, current balance is 0.

But the score went up by only 8 points, to 794. Still 10 points below the previous score.

May be some other variation.. are all account balances <=0?

So you are confirming that HDFC is doing on weekly basis , right??

Hdfc :- 7th Dec -> 15th Dec -> 22nd Dec

PNB :- 30th Nov -> 18th Dec -> 20th Dec

Axis last updated on 30th Nov.

Icici only updated one of my card on 12th Dec. Rest icici cards were last reported on 30th November.

SBI :- 30th Nov

Kotak :- 30th Nov

BOB :- 30th Nov

IDFC :- 30th Nov

Yes, this is correct.
I too noticed it , they are reporting it more frequently these days . How frequently I didnt calculate it..
my score is now 789 from previous 800 as my Tata neu infinity has an outstanding balance of ₹100
A balance of Rs 100 in one account caused deduction of 10 points..
while overall utilization is -1 %.. this was what I explained in my "CIBIL - A Practical Guide" thread..
that is how CIBIL works..

Today, when I checked my CIBIL, I saw that it had decreased by 6 points.HDFC Bank reports at the end of the month. Today I saw that they reported on the 7th. They reported what was outstanding on that date.My bill is generated on the 28th. I pay 90% of the cost every time before the bill is generated. If this continues, it will be very difficult to use credit cards.

If you don't mind, can you please explain what this means for us card holders?

1. Do I have to pay bill every week now?
2. If there there is payment pending will it be reported as overdue? - Suppose my bill generate on 1 and I pay on 20 there would have been two report sent to CIBIL between 1 and 20.

@shrewdoc @SSV Keep an eye on credit reports and give us an update as soon as possible if you find other banks also started reporting fortnightly or shorter than it, as you have CIBIL subscription.
Yeah I am telling that only. It includes his closed accounts/cards too if there are any.

Yes,
Reconfirming again , HDFC is reporting balances to CIBIL every week..
My last three reports were on
1) 01/12/2024
2) 08/12 2024 and
3) 15/12/2024..

And the last update was done on 18/12/2024 but effective reporting date was as on 15/12/2024..
So it is taking them 3 days to make an entry in the CIBIL about our balances…

All the best guys..

So next date would be 22/12/2024

1.Then wait for a few days, it will recover..
2. Mine also same timeilines, 01/12 , 08/12, 15/12 and waiting for 22/12.. may be tomorrow it will be updated for me

As expected my latest HDFC report was done as on 22/12 . It was now got updated in the CIBIL with 0 balance. and my score is back to 800 ,so back to normal for me.. where it was before ...

so my last 4 HDFC reports were done as on , 1/12, 8/12, 15/12 and 22/12.

pls go thru this:

Great Thread. But that SSV's Pro Tip is now almost impossible to act with weekly reporting. 😀

you can.. ask me abot my score after 2 months.. I will still have around 800
Nah, you have to pay at least four times per month. That's too much work for 10 plus cards. Will meet you here after two month on Feb 26.

I dont think you know me well enough..

I pay for my credit cards 2 or 3 days after each transaction( medium to major transactions) ... and I have been doing this for the past 15 years..
You can come back after every month end and ask me

Wow what a timing for RBI to start this specially when my usage from 0.3% increased to almost 20% this month on overall usage. Ofcourse there is some reason of (₹₹₹) so I had to use it & I know cibil score may hit with some +- points, my current cibil is 802, What I am doing is making payments as same as @SSV in 1-2 days but only difference is I was considering bill generation date as well like which is most important. Today itself I used hdfc Swiggy for 20k only, my question is will they report it's transaction on 30th dec or some other date? I have exhausted all my DC limits to clear bills & get some cb/rps to use this month but if they will be reporting on 30th then I will clear it today only. Can anyone advise on this?

There are some more CCs such as federal & sbi & icici I used around 20% of overall usage but I think we are safe here for these cc unlike hdfc, advice on this too if anyone aware of reporting, Thanks
