Saw this mail reply from HDFC that from January 2025 HDFC Swiggy & HDFC Tata Neu will be considered as core cards which means that during the sales customers will get the instant discounts on these cards as well. So good for those who have already got the Swiggy & Tata Neu cards in their armoury.

HDFC has changed their internal policies and they have come up with one card policy wrt core card and multiple co-branded cards.

Note: News is not 100% confirmed so verification regarding this is required if it is true or not.

It's from escalation department, there are alot of non graduate and interns in that department, so it's 100% false news.
That's what I said. You read the original comment I replied to.. Right?
Never a cobranded card will become a core card. If you know any, please name bank and card name.
You may want to look at how Axis and ICICI Card categorisation works. Even co-branded cards are considered as primary, get limit enhancements, can be applied in any order and upgraded to other core and other co-branded cards and work as floaters at the same time.

Icici categories in gemstones cards and expression cards and keep non core cards in the same list but they are still non core cards.

They work just like core cards.. That's the point. You can apply for Amazon Pay/MMT today and go for Sapphiro or Emeralde tomorrow. Its nothing like HDFC where you have to rub your nose in order to get the same done.

But still core are core and non core are non core, issuing a card is solely dependent on bank its not to do with any variants

Of course its Bank's discretion.. No one is denying that. But an exception should not to be treated like a rule.

This classification works in a particular way for HDFC only. No other bank plays by the "core first then co-branded card, if co-branded first then no core card, no two core cards and no two premium cards at the same time, yesterday it was a co-branded and today its a core card" book. Other banks have a limit on number and type or nothing at all.

You said no co-branded card can become a core card and thats true as far as branding is concerned. But there are 100s of co-branded cards that work and treated like core cards while upgrading, changing variant or asking for limit enhancements.

Have a good time.

Treating non core like core is different thing.

Hdfc is not the only bank that does this type of discrimination.

While being a core card of sbi, Sbi cashback is the worst card when it comes for offers at 10% OFF during sales, as its eliminated from those offers.

So, it totally depends on cards feature and the bank

HDFC Bank has never clearly shared its policies, which creates confusion. When you apply for a credit card, it links to a revolving credit account. If you apply for another credit card, the bank can either issue it with a shared credit limit (since both cards are tied to the same revolving credit account) or assign a separate limit by increasing the overall revolving credit limit and allocating the remaining limit to the new card. This process applies to both core and co-branded cards since they are all connected to the revolving credit account. Therefore there is no distinction between a co-branded card and a core card from banks perspective.

The real issue with HDFC Bank is its reluctance to extend additional credit, whether as new cards or higher credit limits. The bank often demonstrates inertia towards its customers. However, if you maintain accounts with a good Net Relationship Value (NRV), they might offer you multiple cards. Claims that converting core cards to co-branded ones is not possible are unfounded and lack logic.

They're amenable to anything if one has a good NRV. I started with HDFC Time Card (with salary account) in 2014 and was able to upgrade to Regalia in 2018 after few emails and arguments with the RM. Later they extended an auto upgrade to Infinia. But the whole experience with them has not been good at all. They give so many confusing statements and create artificial hurdles.

So I have DCB and these two as well.
Can I upgrade tata neu to regalia gold?
Aap aise baatein puch rhe ho

One thing to consider full discount on credit card offer like core card on Swiggy and neu for sale
Other thing to think it's core card

Swiggy and neu will be co branded card because they can be applied and managed by their respective apps too
Also
There are two types of co branded card

One with bank reward system like axis IOCL or any fuel card etc
Others like
Hdfc Swiggy , kotak Myntra etc

exactly, the reason I asked is because some one confirmed that these will be considered a core card, so I thought might be possible.
