Hotel Points HDFC to ITC Miles Transfer now available

It really isn't devaluation...

You can still book direct ITC hotel on smartbuy using Infinia points in 1:1 ratio. No need to transfer any points to ITC

HDFC is just providing an option which was not there earlier. Thats it
70% capping is still there

70% capping is still there
Yes it has been there since long time. It still does not change anything

If you are a regular user of Infinia / DCB, 70% should not matter as points get used in subsequent bookings

70% capping slightly reduces the point value by a complex formula that the best investment bankers at HDFC have worked out.

Try to solve this problem --
With no capping, the return is 16.50%
Then 70% capping will reduce the return to ???
Then 50% capping will reduce the return to ???
Then 30% capping will reduce the return to ???
Then 20% capping will reduce the return to ???
Then 10% capping will reduce the return to ???
Then 0% capping will reduce the return to 8.25% (50p value when transferred to Accor (2:1), ITC (2:1), airline partners (1:1)

Since you got
Your mood has changed
So you and @SSV are best buddies 😁
All Indians are my brothers and sisters !!!
I love everyone and all the banks except for those who doesn’t reciprocate or act as d*ck heads !!!
@drsel is already one of my best buddies long before he took Infinia / any other card(s).
Actually I didn’t know that Ihe took Infinia .

I still consider him as 🪓 man and continue to tease him !!!😉
and I have no attachment to infinia or any other card / Bank… it is just a business from my perspective

Atleast axis kept their word for one thing :hehe:

Out of curious, what if AXIS drop this in their MITC document and implement for this card? ...

Now I am wondering if it's worth spending 14750 joining fee and renewal fee every year. (compensated by 12500 points worth Rs.9500, as I will explain below)--

The best use of all Infinia points is to buy air tickets on Smartbuy.
But I get 24% discount on all International and domestic air tickets on Traveledge using lifetime free Magnus Burgundy.
Hence the point value should be 76 paisa and not 1 rupee
So 12500 joining bonus and renewal bonus points should be discounted by 24%, so worth Rs. 9500.

That would imply an expense of 14750 - 9500 = 5250 every year after deducting the point value in rupees.

Disclaimer the above analysis and calculation is valid only for those who have a lifetime free Magnus Burgundy.
I think you should put this disclaimer in all of your post praising M4B from now on...
as with 36k fee and 30L FD, current M4B is not comparable with other cards
M4B is good now only for the people who have it LTF...
so, new people may get confused with your claim of M4B as the greatest card (if you do not put the disclaimer that you have the card LTF)
I accept, once upon a time, it was the best rewarding card may be in the whole world....but not anymore...

It is still best rewarding card but yes, does not makes sense to acquire a new one given current strict criteria. So for new users it does not make sense to go for it, but for existing users, it is still best rewarding card.

Only if LTF
as I donot think if anybody pays non-refundable 36k fee and 30L blocked money as this will make your net return lower

Yes, true, Why anyone will hold paid magnus without any renewal benefits. We are talking about LTF M4B card which many users were able to convert last year.

That is my point...New users are not going to get it as LTF....Hence, the comments of this small set of users (who have it as LTF) is creating confusion in the sense that it is not depicting the real current picture unless they specifically mention LTF....hope it is clear...

You can consider this as 1.2% extra interest every year on your 30 lacs fixed deposit

Got your point that users having LTF M4B maybe a small set of users, So this card should not be promoted for new users. But then by same logic every highly rewarding card is exclusive to small set of people- Infinia, Amex Platinum charge, Emerald metal, Burgundy private etc. Only very small section of people will be able to acquire these cards. But still these cards are regularly discussed as highly rewarding, so why not include M4B in the league.(Unless it is further devalued)

Absolutely spot on !
but mind you,
a paid Magnus Burgundy card is much better than all these paid cards you mentioned
a LTF Magnus Burgundy card is much better than all these cards even if they were all LTF

Everybody has their own opinion...
But I do not agree to both of your opinion...
Paid Magnus burgundy have a long list of exclusion...not much joining benefit...high joining fees and waiver criteria....30L bond....What is good is 14% return over the spend 1.5L per month (which does not include traveledge and long other things).....below 1.5L 4.8% return and in traveledge good 24% return (which is 10% infalted in the first place making it net return of 14% again up to 2 lacs, beyond 2 lacs return may become negetive)....now the gftyr is gone.....As per my opinion, This is not much better than all these paid card mentioned above...
LTF M4B is also not much better as it have long long list of exclusions...still it is better as you have nothing to loose...
In order to be a card much better, it should have few exclusions like poor man's regalia gold
but, as I said, if you are satisfied and have extracted benefit out of it (getting at least 3X more than what you are paying in terms of fees and opportunity cost), its ok and good for you....
As per my opinion, it is very easy to extract 3X benefit from other cards than M4B in my spend range...I can not extract 3X benefit out of M4B in my annual spend due to list of exclusions...
from M4B, To extract, 36k x 3 and opportunity cost of 30L bonds, is very difficult if not impossible for almost 99.999% of credit card users
Hence, It can never be called a better card now....
Once again, Enjoy your parks and return of the LTF M4B as long as it lasts...

What are exclusions you are talking about, Any other competitive highly rewarding card does not gives points on Rental, Govt transactions, Fuel, Education etc which is same as M4B. Utilities & Insurance are only 2 things which M4B does not give rewards additionally. For these, insurance best way to pay is via Apay vouchers purchased via infinia 5X, These are most abused categories that's why the exclusions. Even HDFC have restricted Utilities reward points(cap) which is right step.

you are missing jewellary,,
HDFC have exclusion rental, fuel, govt only...
Jewellary, insurance and utilities are major chunk of expenditure

@drsel I have seen you talking good about Infinia first time 🙂 so happy.
But jokes apart, you give a good perspective and keep HDFC honest 🙂

On another note, regarding M4B, some colleagues with Citibank salary account got converted to Magnus Burgundy.

I asked them to check M4B.
Not sure if they will get it LTF. But surely they don't need 30L FD.
Will M4B paid benefit them?

If M4B is not LTF, then 8L normal spend is required just to recover the fees...
It is very difficult to get over 1.5L in a month due to exclusions and also the traveledge spend is not included in monthly milestone...
Your only saviour is traveledge, which may give you 14% net return
