How many bank accounts do you have and for what purposes?

raghavx

TF Select
I hold following bank accounts

  1. ICICI Bank (Savings) - For salary crediting and investments
  2. IDFC First Bank (Savings) - for savings purposes, it gives good rate of interest.
  3. DBS - Idk why I am still holding this.
  4. Paytm Payments Bank - Had opened it long back, not sure why I am holding this too.
  5. Fi.money - For day to day transactions as my primary savings account would get cluttered with few hundred rupees transactions.
  6. Jupiter - Had opened alongside with Fi, thinking to close this.

I am going to join my first company in January. I am thinking of opening HDFC salary account with them. My net salary credit will be 50k. So can I negotiate for Regalia gold cc or I can get mostly millennia ?? I don't want to open salary account with axis because mostly for my salary credit they'll offer Myzone i think so which I don't want at all. I feel like I already have good credit cards from ICICI, so I don't want to open salary account with them. Any other salary account suggestions ??? I already have savings account with HDFC, so I am thinking of converting that to salary account, so will I get that LTF credit card offer ??

I already have Axis Privilege, FK axis ltf, ICICI sapphiro dual ltf, Apay cc ltf , HDFC moneyback + ltf , HDFC Tata neu plus.

I've account in SBI - primary and Fi money - UPI.

Thinking to close Fi money as 0 forex is revoked for standard account and they've imposed 199INR towards debit card charges which I've hardly used however I like their application and wondering if there is any bank with pure 0 charges and application is good as well.

Planning to choose IndusInd Exclusive/ legend account linking with credit card for reduced forex charges, however their app seems buggy, customer care is poor.

Any inputs?

Thanks.

If you’re just after low fx fees, fi is a good option. Maintain infinity account if regular traveller else when needed.
There’s also sbi jcb card you can explore. Niyo and Rbl signature + are other options along with indisind.

wow! Didn't knew SBI JCB card exists, will surely explore and yes I'm currently into zero or low forex cards.

Not keen on neobanks, so I assume IndusInd it is, as RBL reputation is not great.

Also, I read a post where folks have commented RBL Safari card has acceptability issues while doing international transactions, can anyone highlight reason because I assumed it is also based on visa platform so wherever other cards like Fi/ niyo works flawlessly, why not RBL?

Can you please describe your experience with South Indian Bank, Bank of Maharashtra and Punjab Sind Bank in terms of the branch experience, customer service and digital banking infrastructure?

South Indian Bank is private bank based in Kerala. Good service, app is fine but my account is Dormant there.
Talking about BoM and PSB, where i open account the staff are really friendly, these bank are not popular where I live having one or two Branch in my district. So they are looking for customer. The thing about PSB is the staff fill all the details even though I insist I will do. In cash counter you don't need wait for hours here. Two or three customer maybe. This is the reason am using BOM & PSB here. The issue is different in BOM in maharashtra and for PSB in Punjab bcoz they are leading bank there. You have to wait for hours just to deposit cash.
If you want to save time in cash counter, I reckon you to select a bank which have low Branch in your locality.

HDFC - Savings max - best for HDFC Billdesk
Axis - zero balance
Kotak 811 - Back up account and offers good rate of interest on FD
NSDL - RUPAY DC Offer
Jupiter Pro - best for international transactions - 0% forex dc

Confused if I should open IDFC and close any of the above or Just stick to what I have.
How to get Axis Zero balance account ?

I need a bank account solely for expenditure. This would include daily UPI and credit card bill payments (I clear the outstanding every few days). The CC amount will vary from a few thousand to 10's of thousands since I clear outstanding regularly (for example - 2K to 30K).

I currently have the following:
  1. HDFC Salary Account - I receive salary here. It is a Zero balance account.
  2. SBI Savings account - I transfer money from HDFC to here for investments like MFs and stocks only.
This expenditure account should ideally not have MAB nonsense but even if it does not - that's okay. It should be reliable and not have transaction limits or amount limits on credit or debit (since it will have credit card payments). It should also support autopay for all credit cards (not just the one that bank issues!)

I have looked into the following and I'm open to suggestions for specific account type also:
ICICI (which one!?)
Kotak (811 or regular?)
IDFC First Bank.

---

Side note: I do not want to deal with people or branches or have this concept of a home branch (which is stupid in the first place). It needs to be online first and have a decent mobile app. Desktop browser access is mandatory.

My UPI spends are non-merchant. They're to individuals.

Most of the clearance is for CC. Can you please elaborate on why Axis Liberty account is better than what I listed and how so?
Could you also share your experience? Have you personally used it?
Would 25K count towards CC bills?

Yes, I am using it.
Everyone in the community uses it for cc bill payment only. Only merchant spends count towards 25k milestone.
