do you have any saving acct opened with same branch? if yes, then "00"+ first 4 digits of your acct. also, last 6 digits of the IFSC of that branch.

I think the last 6 digits of IFSC are the Branch code.

Tried both approach, using last 6 digits of IFSC code and getting 3 digit code from customer care --- but both are not working

Tried both approach, using last 6 digits of IFSC code and getting 3 digit code from customer care --- but both are not working

try with last 4 digits also. they earlier used to be 4 digit, then added 2 leading zero.

So what exactly they want ? Branch code or ifsc code?

If branch code then try the last 4 digits of ifsc code , if it fails then try last 6 digits.. how difficult it is ???
Just in 2 to 3 tries the job should be done..

you can also try visit the ICICI bank branch having govt txn authorization, provide your existing PPF details and ask them to provide the details. Also pl remember that only some ICICI branches are authorised to handle govt txn so PPF or SSY account can only be opened in those branches.
is there any specific reason why you want to change the servicing bank? also this may not be the right time to switch. the transfer takes time, during which the account would remain suspended for txn. so better to wait till end of march, get the interest for the current year and then initiate the transfer.

IOB does not allow online transfer of ppf deposit… we need to deposit money in iob savings account.. then give cheque for transfer in assigned branch…

PPF is a Govt scheme. There is a defined rule set by govt that every bank has to follow. IOB cannot make its own rules. You will need to fill up the specified form and submit to the present bank, along with details of destination bank. The present bank will transfer the account to the destination bank. There is no system to breaking the PPF and depositing it to saving acct. If that is what the branch has told you, they are either ignorant or misleading you into making a premature withdrawal of the PPF

First thing, don't withdraw any amount from PPF account hastily .

The point is, there is NO NEED to deposit balance to savings acct (as indicated by you) for the purpose of PPF transfer.
