HSBC high settlement time and verification time (in Billpay)

redcarpet

TF Premier
Hi,
I paid hsbc cc bill from Cred, Mobikwik and even after hours it doesnt seem to be credited. All the details are right but settlement didnt happen yet. Whereas for other cards I get the credit message within a minute.

Along with that hsbc cc is in pending state in HDFC billpay since 5-7 days.
Is there something wrong with the hsbc cc? My due date is near, where should I pay to get instant settlement

One thing i ve observed...

that i ve bill due date on 25th may ,
So due to late settlements i ve paid bill on 15th may for the same by Cred...
I ve received payment received sms on 20th may..

But in app , statement says payments credited on 15th may ( same i ve paid on the day )

In my experience ,this does not take 7 working days.I have done payments to HSBC cc 3/4 times from HDFC billpay portal. e.g. I had paid minimum amount due on 24th April probably 4-ish pm and remaining payments on 28th (29th as due date), and I could see the entry on 29th and in the mobile app it said 24th April as payment date and 29th April as processing date .To see this information, one needs to click that specific entry under the "transaction history". More importantly , when the statement came ,it said 24th April as "Date" for minimum amount which was paid and 28th for the remaining amount.27th,28th was Saturday(working?) and Sunday. In case of HDFC billpay,For speedy processing and transaction entry to reflect in 3 to 4 days , one should do payment such that there are contiguos working days. When I do the same payments from Cred, there is immediately some indication in the transaction history where the App would indicate amount and call it "pending" and then even that entry disappears and reappears in few days.HSBC's payment received SMS also comes very late,I received SMS on 6th May for the abpve payments mentioning dates such as 30th April, 2nd May in the SMS but statement always reflected the actual dates payments were made.
Thanks.. Hope my payment will get credited tmrw (24th). so that I will not get any late payment charges as rbi gives 3 days grace.. Will update once it credited..

Note:
I made a Rs 100 test payment on hdfc billpay for my hsbc cc on 13th may.. In app it reflected on 17th but it shows 13th may as payment date..

So in that logic,my 19th payment should get reflected in the app by 24th..

Fingers crossed 🤞

Update

Amount showing in payment history by 25th - 1 AM

But date of payment showing 19th.

Will I get late payment charges?

it's a problem with HSBC.
whatever payment method you use, they'll always be late to reflect payment compared to any other bank.
for me payment via HDFC billpay takes 7days,
CRED takes about 3 days.
while for all Indian banks it's almost instantaneous with CRED, and upto 3 days via HDFC Billpay.
P.S. - They show the payment date as it was, but reflect into the account very late.

Hey,
I did a payment of my HSBC Cashback on Friday night using HDFC Billpay. Till the time I an writing this the amount is not reflected in the credit card. I just want to know is there any way to verify that will the payment reflect or not? Because then I would not have more time to pay again if it ends up failing or something else. The due date is 22nd. Because as read above cred or Mobikwik also takes 4 working days.

As it is taking close to 6-7 days for the payment to get reflected in the transaction statement. If you make the payment 1-2 days before the payment due date, the same would not be reflected in the statement even after 3-4 days after payment due date. If so, would HSBC report the non payment/ late payment to credit bureaus after the mandatory 3 day period..?

See, it depends on whwn they received fund. If they receive funds on last 2 days, even if it takes time to reflect, it still consider that date.

ex:
due date - 30th
paid - 28th
Funds received- 29th
actual paid status showing on app - 2nd (but date of payment as 29th)

this date they received is not within their 3 days geace period it will report.

ideally, If you make payment through 3rd party they won't take responsibility, its our choice.

Through NEFT, you can try in those cases.

Same applies to Citi, StanC, HSBC, ICCI who takes 3 to 4 "working days".

Its your responsibility to plan properly and pay on time.

Note: HDCF mostly send transaction same or next day (hence date of payment always these dates, check once) but anycase don't rely on it. Pay any bank card 5 days before due date.

In my case, my last date was 18. I made the full payment through HDFC bill pay on 16th. On 18th, when I checked, no payment wass reflected, so I paid the minimum amount due through cred to be on the safer side. The payment from cred was immediately reflected on statement, but was shown as pending with date as 19th. But the next day the payment date was automatically corrected and confirmed as 18th. But, till today, i.e 20th no indication of any payment from HDFC bill pay is seen. As discussed in earlier posts in this forum, it might take a few more days. I expect that it would be reflected in statement by 22nd or so.

My point is that, if I had not made the payment of the minimum amount due through Cred on 18th, HSBC could have reported default of payment after 21st (3 days after 18th) even though full payment was made on 16th (payment date would reflect as 16th itself, but would show if only after they report default). Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.

Lesson learnt - always pay your due at least 6-7 days before their due date to avoid complications..

I also have paid it three days back and it is not reflecting in HSBC app till now. Not sure what is wrong.

No matter when it reflects in the statement, the payment date will be considered and it won't report default.

unfortunately sometimes these 3rd party apps send payment late or clear the balance with bank. Its always better to double check rather assume it reflects payment date. because if something goes wrong, 3rd party apps have no liability similarly bank. Only we have to face consequences.

Hence, these messages..

never 100% trust any of these including HDFC. who knows their server might be down or schedule maintenance activity might occur anything can happen for that delay.
