HSBC Live+ Credit Card Review | HSBC Cashback Credit Card Rebranded

Editor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information and offers. Last Updated 15th July, 2024.
HSBC revamped their Cashback Credit Card back in December 2023, and I would say it stood out as an exception in a season of brutal devaluations. Since earning points for travel is becoming increasingly difficult, many people are shifting to cashback credit cards to enhance their value back. Now, in July 2024, they have just rebranded their Cashback Credit Card as the Live+ Credit Card with a fresh design. In terms of benefits, nothing has actually changed.

Here's a quick review of this great credit card from HSBC Bank!

TechnoFino Recommends

After the revaluation of the HSBC Cashback Credit Card back in December 2023, it became one of the best cashback cards for offline and online dining and grocery spends. The recent rebranding is just a name change to the Live+ Credit Card, but nothing has changed in terms of benefits. This is a simple, no-nonsense cashback card from HSBC Bank that caters to both groceries and dining at a flat 10% rate, which I would say is unprecedented. Earlier, Kotak was offering similar cashback on their Essentia and Delight Credit Cards with some conditions, but these have now been discontinued.

If you are looking for a great multi-utility card for all your grocery and dining spending then this card should be there in your wallet! Not to worry about the fees since in festive time reaching that upper cap on 10% cashback even for just one time will make your card free virtually for the year. This card is in direct competition with the HDFC Swiggy card now.

I'll tell you my application timeline since I applied pretty recently.
29th May: Submitted Application and did VKYC(The VKYC link for them remains valid for 1 Day only).
31st May: Got a call that my Company Name doesn't match with Salary Slip. (I had not added the Pvt Ltd). I had to send a mail declaration. He said it would be approved within 48 hours.
5th June: Called their customer care for the status. They said it's approved on 4th June but yet to dispatch.
6th June: Got the approval and card dispatch message.
7th June: Received card(Bangalore address). Signed in to HSBC app and saw was charged the joining fee.
Just now, got the Card approval message. I had applied on 11th June and got approved on 17 June.

Congratulations! Your HSBC Credit Card has been approved and you will receive the same at your correspondence address within 5 working days. Once you receive your card, simply follow the instructions mentioned in the welcome letter to activate the card and generate your PIN.

Thanks a lot. Also do they ask for bank statement or last 3 months income slip enough ?
These documents are needed while we fill in the application - 2 documents - One is Last drawn Payslip from your company and another is the Salary credit transaction reflected in your bank statement.
For Example - If you are giving a payslip for May 2024, you must also provide a Bank statement reflecting the May 2024 Salary credit.

Please tell the txns of April so that we can help.
Mostly these - Dmart, Swiggy, Zomato, Local grocery store (MCC verified) and Big Basket.
Even on call I verified with the customer service team member and she also agreed that the Swiggy alone contributed a cashback of approx 350 Rs. But I got 189 in total for May statement. 2800 at Dmart and other eligible transactions were also there.

Then if she agreed didn't she suggest any solution or raise any complaint?

No, she simple mentioned that "cashback will be calculated on monthly basis, you have received partial cashback the remaining will be credited later and you have to calculate wash and everything transaction" 😔 👎

I thought hsbc was different and good. The same case is with Airtel Axis you need to check for each and every txn as there is no bifurcation of the cashback received. So far I have just confirmed with the Customer Care that if I would get CB on certain previous txns or not and they were able to tell. Waiting for my third statement to be generated and then will confirm my experience.
But as per the t&c they should credit according to statement only as Airtel Axis also does the same. You must again contact the Customer Care as it also depends on the executive's knowledge or you can mail to take it in writing.

you simply got an idiot CC person, luck of the draw.
HSBC Cashback card cashback is always calculated on statement basis.
personally comfirmed this & verified.
You can also raise a complaint for less cashback received, if one idiot is not co-operating, need to try again.

I also faced couple of such idiots while trying to change statement date - later wrote to PNO - who took their sweet time and eventually got it done and clearly mentioned CC person had given wrong information.

for all cashback cards from any bank.. 1st of every month (then calendar month = statement month). But, ideally due date should be when you're able to pay i.e., after you receive income.
