HSBC Live+ Credit Card Review | HSBC Cashback Credit Card Rebranded

Editor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information and offers. Last Updated 15th July, 2024.
HSBC revamped their Cashback Credit Card back in December 2023, and I would say it stood out as an exception in a season of brutal devaluations. Since earning points for travel is becoming increasingly difficult, many people are shifting to cashback credit cards to enhance their value back. Now, in July 2024, they have just rebranded their Cashback Credit Card as the Live+ Credit Card with a fresh design. In terms of benefits, nothing has actually changed.

Here's a quick review of this great credit card from HSBC Bank!

HSBC Bank is currently only offering their credit cards to salaried individuals that too very strictly. If you are a self-employed individual then you may try your luck by opening a premium bank account against a huge NRV.

TechnoFino Recommends

After the revaluation of the HSBC Cashback Credit Card back in December 2023, it became one of the best cashback cards for offline and online dining and grocery spends. The recent rebranding is just a name change to the Live+ Credit Card, but nothing has changed in terms of benefits. This is a simple, no-nonsense cashback card from HSBC Bank that caters to both groceries and dining at a flat 10% rate, which I would say is unprecedented. Earlier, Kotak was offering similar cashback on their Essentia and Delight Credit Cards with some conditions, but these have now been discontinued.

If you are looking for a great multi-utility card for all your grocery and dining spending then this card should be there in your wallet! Not to worry about the fees since in festive time reaching that upper cap on 10% cashback even for just one time will make your card free virtually for the year. This card is in direct competition with the HDFC Swiggy card now.

HSBC calculated wrong cashback for the month of May 24. I just raised the request and customer service accepted their fault. She is raising the issue as I'm typing this message.
You guys should check the statement regularly.
If it's less than 1000 then chase them to death and get your cashback 😁😁😝

There is no clear rule regarding cashback period. One executive told me that it will be based on statement transactions, other told me that it will be based on monthly transactions. Today one executive told me that partial cashback has been credited and the remaining will be credited in next month. I have to calculate each and every transaction manually.
Totally rubbish 😔 👎

One doubt. I applied for this card on 11th June and completed the Video KYC the same day. Can anyone suggest how long HSBC usually takes for the Procedure?
Because when my wife applied for this cashback card around the last week of May, we never heard from HSBC till now. So I assumed they Rejected the application, Still today we have not received any emails on progress, the last email was a successful video kyc.
I am not sure if HSBC usually takes more time to process ??

Around a week. Don’t expect timely notifications from them. I received dispatch notifications when I received my card. In fact when I had called to check they said it’s rejected. I’ve been using card (which they rejected :P )

I didn't expect a foreign bank to be like this, HDFC does better in terms of notification SMS on the status and they did not take this long for processing. Sometimes I had got approvals in a day max. this is really bad that they take this much time. Even for my Wife's application, when i contacted Customer care they mentioned that its Rejected.. after seeing your message, I am hoping for something good..

Thanks. I have never checked except for the initial 2 stmts. It always been <1k in most of my stmts. Would be too much of a bother to check and follow up for small amts. Very disappointing that the so-called foreign bank doesn't have a proper mechanism to calculate such cashbacks.

My expectations from HSBC 0 on 0. They are worse than PSU bank in India. Customer care is mostly clueless. Chat support and call takes a lots of time. Only good thing about them is they give very high kinds useless limits.

They gave me 30000 only so -10/0 from my side. Worst experience from a private bank

HSBC has updated its Cashback card name to Live+ and removed rewards from Utility.

I guess they might be delaying the process of new onboarding because of this.
Btw, does anyone has more information about this?

Where did you find this info?

HSBC gives cards ONLY to SALARIED CLASS. So, Seniors/Pensioners n SelfEmployed - will NOT GET APPROVAL.
Despite having ITRs of 10L+ as against their declared income level policy of only 4L.
Self employed can still try. They can get an account opened and wait for a few months (i’m not sure how many and the balance requirements) and they become eligible for a card. Some people have for cards this way.

Any more info on this? Sounds like a devaluation incoming.
Just 7-8 months ago they revalued it, and now this. Fiddling frequently like Axi-shit.
I think there would be no more devaluation for some time now. I used the 1.5% cashback on utility though but the main 10% categories should be there so the card still holds its worth.
This devaluation was expected as HSBC Visa Platinum also included Utility in its exclusions list.
