I have been assigned a Relationship Manager, I didn't know about.

Hi,

So I opened a bank account with ICICI Bank. I don't know if anyone one of you knows about it or not. In 2020, I opened an account with ICICI bank where I had to open an FD of ₹ 10,000. And hence, my bank account would become a zero balance account. So, I ended up opening it.

Today I got a call from a person on behalf of ICICI bank. I was told that she was my relationship manager. I asked her that my bank account is a basic savings bank account and as far as I know this account doesn't come with a relationship manager. But she told me that because of my good relationship with the bank I have been assigned a relationship manager. I was surprised as I knew that one needs to have a good account to have RMs.

But I said ok, and then she told me if I need any help related to my bank account I could ask her. She also gave me some investment-related suggestions.

Isn't it weird or am I just being lucky here?

What are your thoughts guys?

I laughed and told them that my account with them is a basic account and I don't have any RM. They said ok.

Now today, when I received the call from RM I asked her the same question. She told me that based on my relationship with the bank. I have been allotted an RM. I was surprised I couldn't believe it. But she had my details my balance, everything. She told me that next time if you have any problems do let me know.

@BankExpertIndia I am also still not convinced as she said my account has not been upgraded or anything like that. Later, she started telling me about investment-related offerings by banks. 🤔 I am thinking it could be a trap. Can I confirm it anyhow?

I had same experience with Kotak, I had received 3 calls from 3 different people in a week saying that they are my RM and tried to sell me some Kotak insurance.
They know that people directly disconnect call if they mention their actual department so I think they have started using this tactics to get attention.
For basic banking needs you don't need RM.

I don't yes. But how can I confirm this? I was thinking to get a CC through them.

In imobile app there is option to check RM details, if same details are there then she is your RM.

In left bottom there is Me icon, click on it and then connect with Relationship manager.

I got fooled @Batmanbaba. She recommended ULIP. Poor me, saved her number and asked her if she could help me get an LTF ICICI CC. 🤣 🙁

Customer care told me that your home branch has assigned you an RM based on some internal criteria. it's not like a 10k MAB account can't have a relationship manager.

Not one but two, surprisingly enough. My mom has a salary account she just has one relationship manager and I have been assigned two. 😆

I don't know who to believe. Customer care told me that it will start reflecting in the app soon as you have been assigned just.

Leave it man, she was actually from icici bank and not from other third party company.
If she can help you to get card then ok otherwise just block her number, simple.
