I want a AmEx card card, but none seems profitable

I want to American Express credit card, but all my existing credit cards give better rewards for online transactions (like SBI CB) and i am a bit doubtful about the offline acceptance as i live in a tier 2 city. So can you please suggest me an American Express credit/charge card and also give me tips to keep make holding the card profitable, or atleast so that i don't lose money by simply keeping the card.

Simple. Don't take it.
Unless you spend a lot online (and can spend at least 1.5L thru Amex), it's not useful in Tier-2/3 cities.

Does it give 5000 MR points on paying the annual fees aswell?

And how does it give 5% on AGV? Pls tell🥺
No 5000 MR points on paying annual fees.
It doesn't give 5% on AGV. It gives 5x reward point on amazon & paytm wallet.
so 5 points per 50, means 10 points per 100 => 2.5% return.
On Zomato, Ajio, Nykaa, BookMyShow, Uber = 10x reward points = 20 points per 100 => 5% return

1) don't go for smart earn, it is a very basic card amd limited rewards.
2) MRCC is the one you should get.
You will earn more than 5% using mrcc . You need to use it majority of the spending thru AGV.
If I enroll for that 20k milestone on the primary card, and if spend some amount on the primary card and remaining on the supplementary card, will I still reach the milestone?

Amex Update: Rewards & (Surprisingly High) Offline Acceptance!

Just wanted to share some exciting news! I finally applied for and received the American Express Membership Rewards Credit Card.

While I was initially a little hesitant about offline acceptance, I've been pleasantly surprised. Many more merchants than I expected take Amex, which is a big win. Of course, it's still my go-to card for gas stations, so at least the Milestone MR points are racking up there!

After tieup with amex by banks they charge the same cost of visa or master as mdr charges hence no problem, only who has not tied up with amex has issues in there pos

For example axis they issue amex network card. Now let's say you have a business and bought amex cc or amex network cc if you swipe in axis pos it accepts just like normal cc with same mdr charges of credit card of visa and master. Before amex had no tie-up where a business owner pos would loose 3% but if bank tie-up exist it's simple as 1% in mdr, card won't be considered as international card.

I have one more question. Is it possible to combine the points accumulated on the SmartEarn Card with the MRCC points for the 18K or 24K collection?

Do the points get credited to the account or to individual cards?
For me it’s all under one pool but I think there are some caveats to this when you have the platinum series of cards combined as they go into a separate pool. I don’t have them though so can’t comment much.
