ICICI Bank charged me annual fees on my credit card even after meeting reversal criteria

As I said earlier, there is a MIS-UNDERSTANDING of the related rules. Yours n theirs approach are mis-matched.

I got nothing to add further now - than waiting to know the final outcome of your stand-cum-fight.
Impliedly wrongful: If they weren't at fault then why they changed their MITC after making complaint?

T&Cs shall be mentioned in clear and simple language, otherwise it's voilation of RBI's directions. Even though if it brings two different sense based on 2 different POV, then the bank must be held liable for using such wordings to create chaos.

Terms & Conditions MITC doc. can only be modified with notice to the customer. But they changed it without giving disclosure to customer, again another voilation.

@TechnoFino you could also made complaint against RBI BO, along with ICICI Bank, for not using due diligence in the matter and closed case in not appealable clause, making an unfair and unjust decision, jeopardy to customer's/ complaint intrest.

Hi @TechnoFino currently i am also going with same situation where the Bank is Standard Chartered Bank.
As I had asked bank for the limit enhancement and card upgrade to Ultimate card in 2022 Sep, they denied at that time as i was out of india. So i asked them to close the credit card and issue the NOC. but after closure of all the credit card, still I was getting the limit enhancement and loans against the credit card offer which was completely RBI rule violation.
Now they issued me NOC stating my all credit card are been closed. But when i came back to India, i went to their Branch, where i came to know that actually my Credit card are made inactive and in their system all credit cards are active. but at that time I wasn't that serious.
Now I came back in December 2022, and I applied for the credit card, and after 1 month, they issued me the credit card with the limit of the closed credits card which was 250000 INR, which wasn't accepted. because either bank have to consider me as a new customer or if they are giving me the limit, they should have offered me what I had got after the credit card closed offer which was 5 Lakh.
I request the bank why they have issued me this limit, and all justification, to which they were unable to provide any justification. so I asked the bank to close the credit card, as during this interval time I had applied for the easy my trip credit card as well, as I haven't activated or used the easy trip credit card, and also they were not able to issue me a limit higher on my ultimate credit card, I had asked bank to close all my credit card and issue me NOC. Which was 29 January 2023, where I had asked to closed the credit card on call, on email and on social media, as I had to keep all these record handy if in case they dont do, I should be prepared for the further action.
Now, as I had paid the annual fees for the Ultimate credit card and also made some transaction, to which if the bank is closing the credit card either they should refund full joining fees or else they need to settle the joining benefit as per the Terms and condition..

As I had clearly asked the Bank to close the credit card and refund the joining fees, to which Bank Manager accepted that he is taking the request for both closure and refund of joining fees. But what they did was first they closed the credit card and later they came up with excuse that they wont refund the joining fees, to which I asked then if they cant refund then on what basis they have closed the credit card, as may clear instruction were both, or else Bank should credit me the joining benefit that is 6000 Points and 700 points for my other transaction. to which bank stoped replying.

As during this time Bank have closed only 1 credit card and other was still active, now I had raised the complaint to RBI, where I got the call from RBI Ombudsman, staff was female, so I shared everything, where I escalated that as already I have closed my credit card and then also after closure I had received the offer on my closed account, why is that possible, where the RBI rule states that closure means termination, where after no further transaction can take place and before termination any pending amount should be settled whether its by Customer or by bank. where the RBI ombudsman was like, bank can do whatever they want, and all that she can do is ask for the closure of the other credit card that is easy my trip credit card.


Now here is the interesting Part :

RBI closed the complaint that Bank will waive of the joining fees of Easemytrip credit card and I can request for the closure, and same would reflect on my next statement. I waited for the statement, Bank waived of the joining fees but now they put on some extra charges on the credit card. I escalated again, with the latest statement, to my surprise RBI closed the complaint as per clause 16. I complaint again, and again and they kept on closing, and after 2 months, they sent me again same reply and waived of the charges and closed the credit card, and same I received the email from bank as well. ut again next statement, with other charges and GST on it and no action, now by October 2023, SC bank also updated defaulter in the Cibil and other, where I complained again, as I HAD ASKED FOR THE FULL ACCOUNT CLOSURE ON 29 Jan 2023, and bank have closed without the settlement of due amount. now, all my credit card which had I applied, became active on my Internet banking, for which Bank have issued me NOC, and all other , and later my credit card - Ultimate credit card, became active, and the joining fees was reversed, and bank started asking for the bank details of refund. Bank manager sent me mail that all correction have been made on my Cibil and joining fees have been reversed, that for for credit card closed ( Terminated ). Now, I ahem been asking for the closure of the credit card, easemytrip, which is still active and have dues on it, for which bank in Junes revered the charges, and on June 20 2024 closed the credit card. I escalated for the compensation of 500 INR from 29 January 2023 until 20 June 2024 for easemytrip credit card other credit card still active.

Now till now bank have never responded to my email , whereas whenever I have sent them email, I used to get automated email that within 2 working days I would get reply. Later I complained on CPGRAM, against RBI and BANK and each time complaint were closed. where Bank used to say something else to RBI and rbi USED TO CLOSE THE COMPLAINT WITHOUT PROPER INVESTIGATION.

but to the complaint which was raised against RBI, to which bank accepted that credit card closed on 27 June 2024, but later complaint closed. Now again I escalated, and then RBI came up with the compensation of from March 16 2023 to 20 October 2023. Where there is no relevance of any such dates, where bank have closed the credit card.



Now, again complaint have been raised against RBI and Bank, why I am raising is just to keep my case active, so that I can file the case in Consumer Court, and agains the bigger surprise is, when my Lawyer sent the BANK LEGAL NOTICE THEY HAVE REPLIED TO THAT as well.

And after all these RBI is also a part of these Corruption, its just we feel that RBI is monetary and Regulatory body which keeps and Eye on Banks, but they never take any action, this is the perfect example.

Now many would say that, as I have got any approval of compensation from March to oct 2023, so why still going with more, so too all those , its not about the money, but a heart penalty which should be imposed on the Bank, for what they are doing to customer, as they wish and they dont care about Customer, during these last 1 year I wasn't able to apply for any Loan or credit card as SC bank have made me defaulter where I have asked for the closure of the credit card, and also they have never replied to my email , and the biggest part is They had that much audacity to lie to RBI, and still RBI never ever thought to investigate on them.

Now will update on the further Consumer Court Case, once I have filed, but I would be asking compensation for both the credit card and all the harassment , but it would be a hefty amount for them, and I will make sure they realise that they should have not done this.


So just for you all, whenever you close the credit card, get NOC, and just try to cross check whether the credit card still active on Bank system, because its termination not Inactive a customer is asking for.

what was the compensation like?
 
I think MITC was already updated as IT team will only update billing software when they receive updated MITC from business team, seems like web development team missed updating the new MITC on website.

On the 2nd date, the judge was not present. By the way, there is a significant gap between my case and the MITC update, so this cannot be considered a case of internal miscommunication or delayed communication. They realized their mistake after my complaint and subsequently updated the MITC.

I too have SC bank issue with regards to misposting of payment date on CIBIL and have mailed them for correction.

Is there any update on your case?
 
Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!

ICICI Bank just charged me the annual fee for the second year on my Emeralde Private Metal Credit Card on December 18, 2024 (the card was issued in November 2023). And on December 17, 2024, they reversed the first year’s annual fee along with the GST.

Now, here’s the main question: When I asked/requested ICICI Bank to reverse the first year’s annual fee on my Emeralde Credit Card back in February 2023 (the card was issued in February 2022), even after meeting the reversal spending criteria, they rejected my request.

Hypocrisy level: ICICI Bank!
I'm just saving this as an additional proof for my ongoing case.
