ICICI Bank iShop Accelerated Reward Points Portal Launched - Upto 36% Reward Rate 🔥

As promised by ICICI Bank at the time of launching the Emeralde Private Metal Card and Times Black Card, they have introduced their Accelerated Rewards Portal, iShop by ICICI Bank. Through this portal, ICICI Bank cardholders can earn accelerated rewards when purchasing gift vouchers, booking flights, and reserving hotels.

The portal is similar to HDFC Bank’s SmartBuy for HDFC customers. However, ICICI Bank also offers accelerated rewards to its debit card and net banking customers, even if they don't have an ICICI credit card. The portal appears to be in beta testing, as ICICI Bank has added a "Beta" tag to the iShop logo. So, expect changes in rules and capping.

Let's dive into the details of this portal!

Reward Earning on iShop Portal

Credit Cards & Debit Cards:
  • 6X Reward Points on Flight Bookings & Shopping Vouchers
  • 12X Reward Points on Hotels
  • 4% Cashback for co-branded ICICI cards
Net Banking Customers:
  • 3% iCash on Flight Bookings
  • 6% iCash on Hotels
  • NA% iCash on Shopping Vouchers

Redemption on iShop Portal

You can redeem your credit card reward points on the iShop portal.

The value of credit and debit card reward points depends on the card you hold. For example, with the ICICI Bank Emeralde Private Metal Credit Card, 1 reward point = ₹1.

Redemption Options:

  • Flight Booking: You can pay 100% of the order value using reward points.
  • Hotel Booking: You can pay 90% of the order value using reward points, and the remaining 10% must be paid using the same credit card.
  • Shopping Vouchers: You can pay 50% of the order value using reward points, with the rest paid via card.

For Net Banking Customers:

  • Instead of reward points, Net Banking Customers receive iCash from iShop (1 iCash = ₹1).
  • For flights, hotels, and gift vouchers, you can use a maximum of 80% iCash, and the remaining 20% must be paid via net banking.

This is an amazing launch from ICICI Bank. ICICI Bank has often been tagged as a low-rewarding credit card issuer, but with this portal launch, customers can now earn significant bonus reward points using their ICICI Bank credit cards. This is a great way to revamp the bank's credit card portfolio.

One key expectation from ICICI Bank is that they should enter the airmiles game as soon as possible. According to some sources, they are already working on it. They are also aiming to launch a hotel co-branded credit card soon.

So far, ICICI was not very active and leading in the reward points, gift vouchers, hotel stays, and air miles game. It was all controlled by the other three big players:
  • AMEX (Plat Travel, MRCC, Gold Charge etc.)
  • Axis (Atlas, Magnus 4 Burgundy etc)
  • HDFC (Regalia Gold, DCB, Infinia etc)
Now ICICI has also joined the league - with Emeralde Private Metal and Times Black.

This is good for card users and spenders. It's good for the overall growth of the industry as well.
People can choose to focus on and stay loyal to their favourite banks and cards. We get benefitted by the offerings of banks.
Good to see such positive changes.

Also noteworthy that big banks and big players actually control the whole market.
Smaller banks are just there in the game, but not making any significant moves.

EPM I understand is good, but is Times black really needed for someone who is already holding Infinia and not struggling with Smartbuy limits? 24K fees is a bit too much I think

Might be off topic, As you mentioned small cards, Just to add BOB cards are doing decent these days (within PSU banks).

I don’t think you need Times Black with Infinia unless your spend are over 1.5Lpm

Card approved. Took barely 2 mins. Will use for a year and if its devalued, will decide how to proceed further.

Was so taken away by how beautiful IDFC Mayura looked but never took it. Times Prime is gonna be my first Metal card. I still think Mayura looks much more elegant and beautiful.

For someone like me that will take years to be able to get an Infinia ( Especially since i dont want to spend 6L in 6 months on a goddamn millenia ) Times prime currently looks like a damn good bet. Especially since it also has vouchers for Firstcry and Ajio among other stuff. So even if amazon gets the boot, i have options.

I feel that they could have used this opportunity to provide better redemption value on their RubyX/ Sapphiro / Coral cards. Like instead of Rs 0.25/ point, if you redeem at this portal, maybe you’d get more value per point. This would have buffed the base reward rate and made their cards more lucrative.

The problem with these portals is the addl convenience fee that they levy. You’re better off booking at aggregator sites with icici’s offers & so the ICICI platinum LTF is still their best credit card.

For Amazon vouchers as you have capping on Infinia (10K per month - SmartBuy) and it's on Gyftr platform. Now on this there is no 10K capping on iShop. So that's a deal for now.

True! One can buy 1.2L amazon vouchers

Now you can switch spends and plan accordingly. No need to worry of Capping.
Hm. Tricky tbh. Personally I wont be getting Times Black because 1. I already have dcb pvc ltf and 2. I will be constantly worried about ROI.

I would rather wait for a year to be eligible for EPM and get it for the vibes.

Thanks, that's very helpful.

I have had Private Banking with ICICI for several years now but never used their CCs. Last week, I got the Amazon Pay card but its apparently useless for me because I cant use it on Amazon Business.

I have good relations with my BM but my Private Banking RM is useless. I keep 35-80L parked in ICICI savings and tomorrow I am going to start making a ruckus for Emeralde Metal! With that much TRV (and that too in savings) they should be practically calling me to take it. Ridiculous!

Question for everyone: Should I cancel my ICICI Amazon card (10L limit) if I intend to get Emeralde Metal? Will it help or hurt my chances for getting Emerald? I got it barely 4-5 days ago.
Let me know if you are able to crack this. I have been in the same boat, trying since 4-5 months.
