ICICI Bank iShop Accelerated Reward Points Portal Launched - Upto 36% Reward Rate 🔥

As promised by ICICI Bank at the time of launching the Emeralde Private Metal Card and Times Black Card, they have introduced their Accelerated Rewards Portal, iShop by ICICI Bank. Through this portal, ICICI Bank cardholders can earn accelerated rewards when purchasing gift vouchers, booking flights, and reserving hotels.

The portal is similar to HDFC Bank’s SmartBuy for HDFC customers. However, ICICI Bank also offers accelerated rewards to its debit card and net banking customers, even if they don't have an ICICI credit card. The portal appears to be in beta testing, as ICICI Bank has added a "Beta" tag to the iShop logo. So, expect changes in rules and capping.

Let's dive into the details of this portal!

Reward Earning on iShop Portal

Credit Cards & Debit Cards:
  • 6X Reward Points on Flight Bookings & Shopping Vouchers
  • 12X Reward Points on Hotels
  • 4% Cashback for co-branded ICICI cards
Net Banking Customers:
  • 3% iCash on Flight Bookings
  • 6% iCash on Hotels
  • NA% iCash on Shopping Vouchers

Redemption on iShop Portal

You can redeem your credit card reward points on the iShop portal.

The value of credit and debit card reward points depends on the card you hold. For example, with the ICICI Bank Emeralde Private Metal Credit Card, 1 reward point = ₹1.

Redemption Options:

  • Flight Booking: You can pay 100% of the order value using reward points.
  • Hotel Booking: You can pay 90% of the order value using reward points, and the remaining 10% must be paid using the same credit card.
  • Shopping Vouchers: You can pay 50% of the order value using reward points, with the rest paid via card.

For Net Banking Customers:

  • Instead of reward points, Net Banking Customers receive iCash from iShop (1 iCash = ₹1).
  • For flights, hotels, and gift vouchers, you can use a maximum of 80% iCash, and the remaining 20% must be paid via net banking.

This is an amazing launch from ICICI Bank. ICICI Bank has often been tagged as a low-rewarding credit card issuer, but with this portal launch, customers can now earn significant bonus reward points using their ICICI Bank credit cards. This is a great way to revamp the bank's credit card portfolio.

One key expectation from ICICI Bank is that they should enter the airmiles game as soon as possible. According to some sources, they are already working on it. They are also aiming to launch a hotel co-branded credit card soon.

100% Times Black.

Looking at just the voucher reward rate of 6% for Emeralde and 12% for Times , times beats the card by miles.

Times has a 25L fee waiver , Emerald at 15L . So ignore this completely.

Times gives you 10k hotel voucher, Emeralde doesn't ( EPM does but vanilla version doesn't when I checked ) .

For 2L spends , at 6% return rate , you don't even break even on Emeralde whereas you hit 10% return already on times black cause of the 10k joining hotel voucher and the 10k Milestone voucher at 2L spends. Yes both the vouchers are travel based so if you travel you can make it worth. If you don't want to use both the vouchers , you still break even at 2L spends on the times .

For 4L spends , if you ignore both vouchers , you still get 6% returns on times while you get 2.5% returns on Emeralde.

For 6L spends, you get 8% on times excluding voucher and 3.6% on Emeralde.

To break even on Emeralde , one needs to spend 2.3L if it's vouchers or flights , or 1.2L if it's for hotel .

Someone please correct me if my math is wrong. I did double check with chat gpt but still I might be wrong.

The above calculation is based on the fact that base Emeralde is paid . If it's LTF , it's flat 6% which is amazing.
Well explained buddy. Thanks 🙂

ishop is not showing in the drop-down menu today, it was showing yesterday.

Actually it is quite buggy system as of now. Very odd there is no announcement or mention anywhere on website, NetBanking or app. And normal NetBanking page, drop-down doesn't show ishop but this link shows same looking NetBanking login page with ishop drop-down!! Even internet banking or rewards take one to old rewards portal. It still seems beta stage. Login is hit or miss- sometimes works, sometimes goes in loop. But yes once purchased coupons show up in couple of minutes.

I am not convinced by all this hoopla. I have a hot take that this now portal makes no difference to how shitty ICICI cards are.

Yes this is amazing if you have a Emerald Private Metal or a Times Card and maybe a Emerald PVC and also spend a lot on vouchers. For most others this new portal makes no difference.

Rubyx, Sapphiro etc. still have only a 3% reward rate even with iShop. The usual (offline or online) reward rates for all ICICI cards are still shit. You can't buy everything with vouchers.

Atlas (4%) or HDFC RG or DP via Smartbuy (6.67%) are still better than iShop. For offline spending Atlas remains king, as it is for onsite flight and hotel bookings. (I am not going to buy tickets from OTAs no matter how colourful the lollipop is).

And not to mention that caps and limits and fees will be bought in very soon, probably as soon as a couple of months.

The best outcome of this could be that HDFC or Axis might revise their reward rates or relax card issuance by a bit. I especially think we will be seeing a lot more DCBMs being issued now.
Exactly, even among vouchers it makes sense to buy only APAY from here. For other brand gift vouchers, there's no discount which other portals give.
Another point of contention is Rs 99 redemption fee. Unless you accumulate significant number of icash points, Rs 99 redemption fees will eat into your points earning.
So this portal offers value to:
a) If you hold EPM or TimesBlack card
b) If you spend large amounts on amazon pay vouchers
c) If you don't have other cards such as SBI CB, ATLAS!

how to view the Times Card details, My Card got approved but unable to view the card details in Times App/Web and IMobile app and web.

Apayicici is giving 4% cashback where as Amazon is giving only 2% so this portal makes sense.

Depends on other existing cards you have. Otherwise plastic one is not worth it
even with the new RR through ishop ? if anyone is not getting EPM directly, i think it is a good option to take Plastic one and upgrade to EPM down the line. The plastic one has 6% RR on Flights and vouchers and 12% on hotels which is not bad at all.
