TF Buzz
ICICI Bank is offering three premium credit cards— Coral, Rubyx, and Sapphiro—lifetime free for salaried individuals. I am eligible for the Rubyx card, and they are offering a choice between a Visa card or an Amex + MasterCard combo. Which option should I choose? The LTF offer is only available for companies listed on the promotion page: https://campaigns.icicibank.com/credit-card/empaneledCompanies/index.html

I am not sure why people are so crazy about icici cc? I get lot of LTF offers from icici from few months I never entertained. I do not have icici account or any relationship

My company is not in list, but I was able to enter it without selecting Other, its showing my LTF, lol. Should I proceed...

It shows 0 for everyone in the initial page as it has a set rule (Pick a company from the list, pick a salary range and it simply shows that card as LTF). Like I mentioned, the actual details show up once you fill the form and a hard inquiry has been done. You won't know what the actual offers are until you get to that point. In my case, I know that there are corporate offers for my company but I still got paid cards shown to me. I guess their agent messed something up in the process.

Is this actually working for you guys?

In my case, I got the call from ICICI and they sent me a link. This link made me fill in my basic details (with some information pre-filled) in step 1, then it skipped a couple of steps, then in step 3-4 (I couldn't paying attention as I was on the call with them) it made me fill in my PAN which immediately led to a CIBIL inquiry, and finally the step to select the card came up...

Here, to my surprise, I was only seeing Coral as LTF even though I qualify for Sapphiro based on my salary. Mind you, the agent on call had asked me half a dozen times what my salary was and had also asked if my salary had been above 1.5L each month for the last 3 months. The funny/annoying thing was that it didn't even show Sapphiro as an option. It only showed the 100 different variants of Coral, Rubyx (paid) and that stupid Manchester United card (also paid). On questioning the agent about it, he just said that he'd verify and get back to me.

Since then, I continuously got calls from ICICI for a week (I was doing this in the first week of Feb) with each agent just repeating the same thing as the first guy and kept asking if I had the link. No one could answer why there was a discrepancy in the cards I was seeing. Did anyone else also have a couple of steps skip automatically? That thing felt really weird to me, and I asked them about that as well but and the agent told me that it was the occupation step which they fill from their end when they generate the link.

I was getting a PAN verification error when trying to fill the link at my end and so the agent was filling the form. But at the end of it, I too was offered Coral though on the initial application I was shown the Sapphiro option, the only reason I went ahead with the application. I too meet the salary criteria, and the agent had no idea why this was happening... I was told that by the agent that she'll get back after consulting the senior, but haven't heard from them yet. Don't see any point in upgrading to Coral...

And I doubt they'd get back after the launch of their rewards site. This would lead to a massive influx of new users for the their two top-end cards. That would be their focus considering every other card in their roster can be had as LTF in some way or another

I did get another call today, the executive asked about why my application was left incomplete. Told him about it, and then after back and fourth a bit, he said my institution isn't listed and though my salary qualifies me for Sapphiro LTF, the institution doesn't. There was no issue when I applied from my end originally. Guess Coral and Sapphiro are at the similar level with the new reward portal, but there isn't much else for Coral. So think I'll let it go...
