Good Day Everyone,

Just thought of doing a small write-up on my journey with icici bank. So, those of you who don't know me, I am just another credit card enthusiast like you are. I started my journey with ICICI bank, some 6 years ago when I was offered an LTF Jet Airways Rubyx credit card with a limit of 60k, fast forward a couple of years and I was given my first upgrade to MMT Signature, and the upgrade offer showed a One time Fees of 2500, but I was never charged that fees and I also received my MMT vouchers too :) . Then in the year 2020, I applied for an Apay card from amazon which is default LTF, fast forward to end of 2021 , I got my first LE offer from 60k to 180K , which I declined, within 3 months I got another offer from 60k to 14.7 Lakhs, the first thing I did was counted the zeros and opted for the LE this was in the month of March 2022 I guess, This is when the hunt for Emeralde LTF started, I escalated everywhere starting from Twitter to PNO, rejection everywhere. This is when I decided to try the classic old way via branch , I have known the BM since long as he is a family friend, first thing he did was to get me LTF Sapphiro ( with a limit of 23.7 lakhs) based on my employer and salary, and I also converted my salary account with ICICI to a wealth Salary account , started pumping some money to my icici direct account and kept my pursuit for Emeralde active all this while . Finally in the month of February there was a breakthrough and My BM patched me in call with Regional Head as even he got frustrated with my nagging about Emeralde ;P . This is when I realized I have almost won the game , he asked to write a mail attaching relevant documents like salary slips , ITR. Within a week of sending this mail , I got a approval call from the BM stating that I can apply for the card and it will be processed as LTF . So I went to branch and applied for the Emirates Emeralde Credit Card , and as he mentioned , the final stage of the application showed the card as Life Time Free, the card got processed and delivered in a week ( limit of 36 Lakhs)

I have also taken approval for Vanilla Emeralde LTF, and I will be starting the process by next month.

So this is a small write-up on my journey with ICICI from 60K to 36L in 6 and half a years.

This is how my ICICI portfolio looks now.

Yup
I have actually raised a manual LE request on my emirates , as the tentative limit while applying was shown as 40-45 lakhs
ICICI has taken that request and also did a Cibil hit yesterday , let’s see .
A noob question - How do you guys check Cibil hits or in general Cibil report? When I see a free Cibil report via PaisaBazaar they don't show such details.

What was your total spend on all the credit cards?
I guess on Cibil they can look at this data and if a customer has high spends, they have a reason to give LTF.
CIBIL does not show 'total spend' in a statement month/year on any particular credit card let alone all the credit cards. Credit card issuers only report 'current balance' on the card as of the reporting date to CIBIL. So, I guess, any info on this may not give you any insight on a reason for ICICI to offer LTF credit cards.

FYI, my monthly or yearly total spending on any particular or all credit cards put together was definitely not high. Safer to say, it wasn't more than a yearly 5-7 lac spent combined on all cards.

My wife's experience with ICICI.
1. No relationship with ICICI other than 3-4 year old AmazonPay card with current limit of 5.1 lakhs
2. Salary - a little more than 1 lakh net
3. Company - US MNC
4. Education - Masters from one of the best colleges in her field

Process
Step 1 - PAN, Aadhaar verification
Step 2 - Salary, Company, Education
Step 3 - Cards offered with tentative limit of 6.5 lakhs
Vanilla Emeralde (Paid) - Visa and MC separately
Sapphiro (LTF) - Visa and Dual Variant separately
Emirates Sapphiro (Paid) - Visa Signature
Several other lesser cards (mix of paid and LTF)
Step 4 - vKYC

Point to note - No mention of Emirates Emeralde whatsoever, which is what we were hoping for. LTF Emeralde would have been good as well. Eventually, picked LTF Sapphiro coz that's the only one that made sense.

I stopped at the card selection level.
Next day icici called regarding pending cc application, I asked him about emirates emerald LTF, he said that can only be processed offline LTF .

ICICI doesn’t offer LTF Emirates or Emeralde as upgrades
People with NRV of as high as high 1 Cr are struggling to get either of this LTF

I actually expected the Emirates Emeralde to atleast be offered, even if paid. But there was no mention of it. Only Emirates Sapphiro was offered, that too paid.

Edit - Forgot to mention. Was actually taking this post (where LTF Emeralde was offered) as the base while setting my expectation :)

I have been getting this offer Emirates Emeralde LTF for the last 3 months.
I have applied and received a rejection message saying " We are unable to approve your application , please apply after 6 months"
I currently have LTF Sapphiro and salary account in ICICI.
This is very weird, why are they showing this offer if this cannot be approved.
My RM said " There must be an error in tech", I am not convinced with this answer, however I am left with no option but to give up.
Anyone here knows someone who can help in this case

Complaint to PNO ICICI bank and raise the dispute to RBI Ombudsman if PNO doesn't address your issue properly.

Take a written email from RM and forward that email to PNO ICICI Bank to address this issue along-with your credit card application number.

Will that help?
At the end of the day, The decision is in their hands. I have actually lost all hope.

They have mentioned, "the credit card approval is subject to internal bank policies".
I can still try reaching out to PNO of ICICI bank .
Thank you

Atleast you can give it a try. You have all the proofs with you as it is a pre-approved offer so no harm in trying for it.
