ICICI only offers SA with MAB of 25k?

I tried to open a ICICI savings account online (10k MAB) but they said to open it at the nearest branch. I went to the branch and they said student accounts aren't available anymore and that regular savings account comes with a MAB of 25k! I already have an indusind account with 50k MAB. So I declined to open with ICICI. But still 25k? For a regular savings account? Really? Edit : Also no zero balance account available. I asked.
I asked them via email whats the MAB for a specific branch. got this reply
" With reference to your mail, the minimum monthly average balance of the account opening is based on the customer eligible criteria.
Hence, the Minimum monthly average balance for the account opening is decided by branch based on customer profile. "

If you open the account via branch then don’t expect that they will even entertain a person who’s not giving them business what they actually want from their customers until you offer them big cheque. That being said you can get it done if you apply Amazon Pay ICICI credit card (During the application they will give option to open saving account with the bank which will be zero MAB account) or corporate salary account which is also zero MAB. Though, you can try your luck via iMobile app to open account online as I read somewhere a person managed to open 10K MAB account recently through this route.

Purely depends on branch and staff.try if any newly opened branch available nearby.would be less greedy....

in branch they can ask you any amount......try online and if u cant open then leave it....better banks available in market....if u want account from a big pvt bank...u can easily open....hdfc farmers account....only mab required is 2500...u can open it in any branch....rural,metro semi urban......mab will be same...its a full fledged savings account which gives rupay platinum debit card as default.......and also gives preapproved offers.....i have 3 credit cards...and same account from hdfc...cards got preapproved from account,......u can easily open this account online

There used to be a FD (10k-50k) based credit card account which is free but you need to cancel the credit card later to get back your FD, thats how i got ICICI account . Not sure if it is available now.
