Impact of Holding Multiple Credit Cards from One Bank on Your CIBIL Report

helloworld

TF Legend
Bank
Number of Accounts in CIBIL
Standard Chartered1 account for all cards
ICICI4 accounts: 1 for Amazon, 1 for Gemstone Cards, 1 for Cobranded, 1 for Emeralde
AXISEach card has 1 account*
SBIEach card has 1 account
AMEXEach card has 1 account
BOB (Bank of Baroda)Each card has 1 account
HDFCEach card has 1 account
RBLEach card has 1 account
INDUSINDEach card has 1 account
KOTAKEach card has 1 account
IDFC2 accounts: 1 for Core Cards (or Linked UPI Cards), 1 for Cobranded
HSBCEach card has 1 account
YESEach card has 1 account
AUEach card has 1 account
CITI (now its AXIS)Each card has 1 account

Key Notes:

  • Separate Accounts: Multiple cards from the same bank will show as separate accounts in CIBIL, meaning each card has its own credit limit.

Impact: This increases your overall credit limit, reduces ⬇️ credit utilization, but increases ⬆️ potential debt risk in CIBIL's view.

  • Axis Bank: Card upgrades usually apply only if cards have the same reward system or through the retention team. Otherwise, each card is reported as a separate account in CIBIL.

Update if any changes in your bank. TIA!

but i guess no problem here as IndusInd has credit limit per CRN, so effectively your credit exposure will remain same ...

they split the limit like other Indus cards?

ex: 10L legend limit will be 5L legend +5L rupay?

If its shared limit then we have a problem but if above math works then no issues.

Update -

Standard Charted - 1 account for all cards
ICICI - 3 accounts (1-Amazon, 1-Gemstone Cards, 1-Cobranded)
AXIS - each card 1 account*
SBI - each card 1 account
AMEX - each card 1 account
BOB - each card 1 account
HDFC - each card 1 account
RBL - each card 1 account
INDUSIND - each card 1 account
KOTAK - each card 1 account
IDFC - 2 accounts (1-Core Cards, 1-Cobranded)
HSBC - each card 1 account
CITI - each card 1 account
YES - each card 1 account
AU - each card 1 account*

Multiple accounts from same bank means Cibil considers all of them have separate limit. This increases ⬆️ overall limit, decreases ⬇️credit utilization and increases⬆️ potential debt (risk) in Cibil report.

* (in Axis mostly) upgrade is possible only if they have same reward system or through retention team, otherwise its always separate card and/or account in CIBIL

* (in AU mostly) upgrade is new card with fresh payment history.

confirm number of accounts reporting in Cibil if you hold multiple cards with them?

TIA.
Amex reports separate CIBIL account entry for add on holders also.

yes, it took me 4 months for me to show up in CIBIL, its common and do not worry, it will show up eventually along with payment history.
Bhai mene to November me liya tha, activated it by setting pin, have not used it yet. Yesterday I downloaded cibil report, usme bhi au bank ka namo nishaa ni tha. Let's see kab aati hai entry.

If you didn't spend or not even generated single statement it maynot come until you start using it. So, better use atleast once and get statement.

Bhai bony krani hai inki but mauka ni mil rha hai. Iss baar wallet reload krna tha mobikwik pe to pata chala, mobikwik merchant is categorised as highly risky by au bank, so the transaction was declined.

I am not current IndusInd CardHolder but someone told me (AFAIR) that in the portal to apply for Indus Rupay Plat, we have to split limit.

Rest is my supposition. Please do tag (and update) me once you progress (on how it really is).

This is my cibil. Total 17 accounts and all are credit cards. Including family cards I manage total 37 cards myself.

whats the age of active account in your report, is it 14 years still or any changes in that?

Also, do update if you have multiple cards from any bank and how they reported to your credit reports? TIA

My first HDFC gold card started in 2009 , it has got 6-7 upgrades so far and holding DCB metal now which I got an year ago. But credit age is considered 14+ years since the day of getting 1st hdfc card. HDFC has single cibil entry, only account numbers got changed for each different card. I have multiple entries for each icici, axis and SBI cards , they all share same limit. So each of my card has its own cibil entry so far.
