that's not the right comparison to get 80% value. Its influenced by making charges which you will have to pay. You can't reduce the making charges.
Is like comparing the ffp miles with only base fare to calculate returns, you have to pay airport development charge as well, so that should be included in calculation.

I concur with your perspective. The 0.8 evaluation is only applicable when buying gold only for redeeming points.

As I mentioned earlier, the evaluation disregards appreciation and the wife's greed to purchase jewellery in normal course 🙂

I know this thread is about redeeming Infinia points for Tanishq jewellery. My question is a bit different.
I need to buy a Tanishq Gold coin. Now if I swipe the Infinia I get zero points.
- Will the amount spent be counted toward the total annual spends for renewal fee waiver?
- Can I buy Tanishq vouchers on Gyftr and earn points and then use these vouchers for buying the coin.
- I heard that people buy Myntra vouchers on Gyftr and use them to buy gold coins from Myntra. What points do earn by this method.

My preference would be to buy from Tanishq but if I can't earn anything then I'd rather buy from Myntra.

What do you suggest?

Why will you get 0 points? Jewellery is not an excluded category for HDFC cards

There are no Tanishq vouchers in HDFC gyftr

5x for myntra voucher, but coin prices are inflated on Myntra. You need to calculate yourself to see if it's worth it for you

My family buys gold from Tanishq because they feel their quality is unmatched. But almost every other jeweller charges much less making charges. Maybe there's a correlation there.

Coins in tanishq are also more expensive than other jewellers. But coins from most reputed jewellers are taken at face value, so no problem with quality

So if you're planning to buy only coins and not jewellery, i would suggest to avoid Tanishq and buy from any reputed jeweller
